Is Tim right to criticise the players the way he did?

Blimey he was hurting. Can't remember the last time I saw any manager that crest fallen.

Yes he was right. I remember us falling apart and being utterly abject against John Gregory's Aston Villa in the 90s at some point, and, infamously, against Arsenal, 0-5 in 1978 I think.

No bollocks. It's a Spurs thing.

No, he should not do it public at all.

Then he has to take a share of the blamem as "if" he is picking players he can trust and rely on, like Lennon, all the time who has done almost nothing for the last 10 games, but gets the nod because he runs around a bit, that is nothing short of demoralising for everyone else.

The way he treated Capoue, moved on Holtby, played Bentaleb when he is clearly not ready for a starting 11, then he is the designer of his own problems.

I think he has already lost the dressing room.

He was 100% correct. I for one am pleased to hear the manager say it too.

I've posted this in the match thread and I will repeat it on here.

Sherwood : 'The people upstairs expect top four, (shrugs) I mean wake up'.

This is exactly the feeling of so many Spurs fans. We have been trying to get the opportunity to say this to our hierarchy ourselves for so long. Tim had the balls to say it himself on our behalf and he went public. Now who of us would want to condemn him for doing it ?

He might have to pay a hefty price for it. We have to applaud him and we also need to thank him for sticking up for us faithful and long time suffering fans. I for one, will always do.

Tim, you're the man, thanks.

He was absolutely right, we've sold all our characters, Parker, VDV, Bale, King (retired). We haven't got a squad based upon passion any more, seemingly because our most passionate players such as Walker, Dawson and in the rarer circumstance Sandro are prone to mistakes.

We need to get players who have a character, a sense of pride, not just ability on the ball. Someone who would verbally slap a defence when they screw up.

We are a good team and we have world class players, but there is no one on the pitch to actually lead them, no one to stop a defeat from turning into a humiliation.

It was I think a good day for Spurs. It is obvious that Levy likes Tim and now I think we have all seen why.

Just throwing money at it does not work. Tim should be kept at the club maybe not as manager/coach, but I'd keep him close if I was Levy.

That means you too Levy.

In my opinion he was outrageously wrong to go public. He is the manager and as such is responsible for picking the team, determining the tactics and motivating the players. All three he got badly wrong.

His comments should have been made in private but he display the emotions we all felt.

Yeah, he's right.

We were unlucky to be 2-0 down. A mistake can happen in any game and the referee's decision was a disgrace. It obviously turned it.

After that the way we capitulated yet again was a disgrace. That's the mentality with Spurs in the big games, something goes against us and instead of getting on with it and making the best of the situation we feel sorry for ourselves and lose all discipline.

We need some fucking backbone and fight at times.

I suggest you get your ears tested. Here's what he ACTUALLY said:

"They talk about fourth, everyone in the club talks about fourth..."

I've listened to it again to make sure. You are right but then he added 'wake-up'.

Indeed, but your entire post was based on the assumption that he was aiming it at those "upstairs".

Yes he was. He has made it amply clear that their expectations are way above the potential of what we have. He's asking them to wake up from their dreaming state.
