He might not work out for us but it is far to early to even start the debate.
Good players come to the EPL and don't succeed. This is the fear behind any criticism of Bob on here and £26m I can see why people are anxious. No he's not pulling up trees but he has looked OK in parts, leading the line.

The Real ex-strikers like Negredo and Soldado to name but two do demand big money, we may have just learned another expensive lesson but for me it is too early to start getting overly concerned.

I think he may need someone to play closer to him (Ade) similar to Sturridge with Suarez, but thats just my two penneth worth.

You were arguing that a player of Soldado's type isn't suited to the Premier League, purely on the basis that some other clubs don't play with a striker like him. I merely cited one example of a player of Soldado's type who has an excellent goalscoring record in the Premier League.

Your argument is, I believe, based on a false premise - namely that if a certain type of striker isn't first choice striker at other top clubs, then such a striker cannot or should not be first choice striker at our club. It ignores the possibility that we might be set up to play very differently to, but no less effectively than, those other clubs and that Soldado could therefore be precisely the type of striker that we need as our first choice.

All of which is beside the point, which is that it can't be right or sensible to judge Soldado after only six Premier League games.

Can you really say that your one example actually is suited to the league though? Since he hardly ever plays? That would suggest that despite goals, he's not good enough to play. Soldado is playing but isn't even scoring.

It does seem a bit strange that people are questioning Soldado when he has two league goals in six games. Rooney, RVP, Aguero only have three so far and they aren't adjusting to life in a new team/country. I know he's scored penalties but should surely it doesn't matter how he scores. If he gets ten pens and ten from open play I'd be happy.

IMO Soldado is much stronger than people give him credit for, I would say he can hold his own, he made Ashley Williams look a mug and he certainly isn't small. IMO he has been playign well, against Cardiff he could of had 2 he has set up and contribed in attack. 6 games at the start of the season is nothing, especially given our creativity in the opening games was terrible, the front 3 midfielders coming into their own Soldado will get goals, I really don't see the concern as of yet. I will also say I don't really see the comparison with Defoe that much, Soldado can play with his back to goal and hold up play he is also much more intelligent with his runs. Again just my opinion.

people need to chill and be patient - he will be a good striker for us

We dont do chilling on here, so far there have been questions rasied over Dawson, Soldado, Chaldi, Siggy and Rose. Siggy and Rose are good again so they are safe, no doubt they will drop back down again if they have a few quieter games. Dawson is permenenty shit though cause we have had him so long and he is English. These guys are half of our outfield "1st Team" we are joint 2nd in our best PL start to a season. :) It really is a funny old game, success breeds expectation, expectaion seems to breed crazy thoughts :D.

139 for us and 220 career goals says you're wrong about Defoe.

Weird that one player can't be debated without slagging off another.

Hernandez not starting regularly for Man Utd has rather more to do with Robin Van Persie's world class excellence, wouldn't you say, rather than Hernandez's inadequacy?

And, once again, Soldado has played 6 games in a team that is still finding its attacking feet. Senseless to judge him already.

So United didn't need to go out and buy another forward because Herndandez is great? Oh no, they had to go and spend 20m on RVP to help win them back the title. Why? because Hernandez does not have the attributes to be a top striker in the premier league. I'm not saying Soldado cannot come good, I'm just saying I worry if he has the attributes. That has nothing to do with playing 6 games or whatever, its to do with the type of striker he is. A scout doesn't buy a player and wait 10 games to judge whether he will fit, he makes a judgement call based on attributes.
