Might have already been covered elsewhere, but I can't seem to find it...

They are reporting (and quite sure of it too) that United have offered Berbatov and cash for Modric, and it sounds like we're keen. They spoke of details being talked about. Apparently a Carrick and cash offer was rejected.

They also reported that Harry has definitely been speaking to Chelsea.

I would be absolutely gutted/angry/heartbroken if we were to lose Modric, let alone a rival. In my opinion he is utterly irreplaceable.

Like I said, sorry if this has already been discussed. I'm praying it's a complete load of rubbish.

Personally, i'd rather lose Bale than Luka. He's an exceptional talent that we should hold onto at all costs.

There are strikers as good as, or have the potential to be as good as, Berbatov, he's not the messiah.

he's a very naughty boy

Yeah, the whole thing reeked of BS big time to me. I can see Man U offering Berbatov + £ for Modric, and his source seemed believable, but where did he get that guff about Harry and Chelsea from? I may be proven wrong, but I really don't believe it.

Couldn't agree more, the majority of teams seem to have worked Bale out, but Modric is just getting better and better. He is pivotal to us and the way we play. Would United have sold Scholes in his prime? No, and Luka hasn't reached his prime yet.

We need to make a stand on this one, it took us a couple seasons minimum to replace Carrick, and have never really replaced Berbacock, so we can't let lil Luka go.

If we were to sell Modric this summer then I would have to question the 'real 'ambition of the Club. Our best player and our only player who actually really positively distances himself from the speculation, the one player who sounds loyal and very content at Spurs, and always talks about the future here.

There is no way I'm accepting losing our best player to United again, its got to stop.

Probably all bull shit like, but how on earth do you expect to emulate these sides if you keep selling your best players to them....ie weakening ourselves whilst strengthening them - considerably. Not to mention the other players wanting to follow suit and it could potentially put off new recruits...one big snowball of disaster if you ask me,.

This summer will be so important that we make a stand and keep this talented group of players togther...then the much talked about ambition will have some substance to it.

Actions always speak louder than words.

Unless luka shows a desire to move, there will be outrage if levy is to sell him. Unless a ridiculous offer came in (50/60m) then its a refusal straight off. Tell taggart to fuck off

Luka is the ONLY player we cannot afford to lose. Simple as that. Selling him, regardless of what offer is on the table would tell me that we are not set on wanting success.

He is one of the best midfielders in the world already, and selling him would be an admission that we have no ambition.

It's friend of a friend style BBC rumor bullshit (VY the exception of course)

Harry wouldn't be scouting Osvaldo if this deal were done because we don't need two players of that style. Plus if Harry hates Pav's laziness, how much do you think he'd want Berbatov

No, he's a very naughty boy:wink:

As for the rest of it, I will sick in the pit of my stomach if Levy EVER let's Red Nose get hold of Modders...I would rather we subsidised him to play for Caledonian Thistle:evil:

I should also like to add, and this is just a guess on my part (definitely not ITK - I'm the least ITK person on the planet:grin:), I have a sneeking suspicion that we have some mouth-watering deals already lined-up and that Modders and his agent (as well as our other top stars) were either privvy to it, or had an intimation, before Modders and his agent made all of the comments about being happy to stay until told we don't want him, etc.

Something like when Modders himself was unveiled as a Yiddo:beer:

I know it goes against the general trend of pessimism and criticism ATM, but I really don't think anyone should be underestimating just how ambitious Daniel Levy is to bring success to this club (and by that I mean league success).

if we sell modric who is still on a very long contract to untied, a direct rival then i'd probably just give up on spurs to be honest( well not completely but not care as much). no player is bigger than the club of course but I agree with harry when he says that the club might as well pack up if its content with always selling its best players and being mid table fodder

How much £ would be an acceptable amount? £40m + Berba?

Modric is the only player right now I could see slotting into Barca's midfield with no problem. Therefore one of the best in the world.

I can't see Levy dealing with that lot after the original Berba fiasco, plus Luka looks/sounds like the dare I say loyal type.

They should go after Sneijder.

Only just seen this, treating it as :bs: because I cant contemplate it being true. I echo the sentiments that Luka is the player we need to keep above all others and if we did sell him then I would be very very angry.

Even if he wanted to leave I would play hardball and keep him.

If we sell another of our best players to manure I'm done with Tottenham until Levy is gone. Sure I'll still watch some of the matches but they won't get another penny from me for a shirt or any merchandise.

It's just some bloke who knows nothing pretending he has the inside track.
Levy and Harry know selling Modric would be suicide. Why would any good players stay or come?
Harry loves him.
Selling Carrick and Berbatov was different-contracts running down.
Modders signed for 6 years less than a year ago.
Chelsea won't go for Harry with his court case happening this summer.
