Genuinely didn't even notice TOB. Maghoma seemed to have picked up later on. I think our defenders played well

think tob's main problem is that he hasn't figured out what his position is, you look at skipp for example and he knows exactly what he is and what he's good at. first time i saw tob was for england's u16s playing as a #4 sitting in front of the defence and he was brilliant, he even slotted in at cb as well for one game and was just as good but since then he's just sort of drifted into becoming a bit of a nothing midfielder, yesterday he was playing as a dual #8 with maghoma and he was nowhere. he obviously has some nice technique and athleticism but at the moment he's just a jumble of a player.

as for the game, one thing i thought was interesting was in the 2nd half how hinds and reynolds were basically playing cm, they were really tucked in like how guardiola uses his full backs. would like to see hinds play there more as he has a nice combination of touch and balance as well as a little burst of pace to get away from players. in hindsight we probably would've been better off just playing the tiny tots(hinds/patterson/markanday) in there alongside skipp rather than the physically superior tob and maghoma but either way chelsea would still have been too strong. rodel also put himself about far more than griffiths when he came on but that may have been down to them easing off.

It’s interesting that parrott is constantly proclaimed as Ireland’s best prospect since Robbie Keane. If I remember correctly keane made his pro debut very young.Be interesting to see how quickly Parrott progresses.

Just dig back into Mason's career. (thank to @WindyCOYS' blog)

I genuinely believe if Poch met him when he's 17, he'd a massive player for us.

If anyone would perfectly fit in with Poch's policy (No loan and train with the first team), It's him

I'm both surprised and not surprised that Cirkin has been called up. I'm surprised because his development has stalled quite badly over the last 12 months. I'm not surprised because England's recruitment policy is so, so bad and they don't seem to do the correct research. Cirkin was called up a year or so ago when he was still quite highly rated and that seems to be all that's required for England to call you up 12 months later. I don't see Cirkin in training so maybe our coaches are seeing things that we're not or they know something we don't about why his progress has stalled but even so on form alone I can't see how he deserves the left back slot for England at this moment in time.

I get that England believe in identifying potential at 14/15 and then trying to keep a team/squad together up to U21s as best that they can to mimic Germany and France but when your youth development is as patchy as it is in this country then I just don't think you can have that unthinking attitude.

As I say, maybe I'm being harsh, but imho Cirkin is struggling to keep pace with the rest of our U16s.

It's a little bit heartbreaking to see Maitland-Niles getting a start in CM for Arsenal and doing well by the sounds of it. He was pretty much back up, behind Onomah at the WC, and there was a clear quality gap, although he's clearly a really decent player too.

Sadly, I think he had calcium phosphate insufficiency in adolescence (probably life), so he was always going to be prone to fracture.

I’d say it just shows how poor their overall squad is.if Niles was with us he’d be in exact same position as josh.

He's played CM in 1 game vs Llama Farmer FC (who hadn't played since December) after doing a good job being played out of position (something Onomah has thus far failed to do) FFS.

Keane made his debut for wolves in the championship (or whatever it was called then) when he was 16.

I watched one his first games against Reading and you could tell he was going to be a special player, he also was a total fucking cheat and managed to get a Reading player sent off.

He then got abuse all game from me and the other Reading supporters, but as so what often happens, he then scored the winner near the end and then promptly run past all the home supporters, giving us a massive cheeky smile.

He was just “ok” as a LWB. Nobody said he shone. Onomah was OK when he was played as a ARM. The general complaint was “he didn’t shine”. But he was not catastrophic either. The difference is AMN has now been given a game in his preferred position, in CM. Three years, loads of cup games, bench games with opportunities and two pre seasons later and Onomah hasn’t. Are you spotting the difference?

FFS.
