"In terms of his ceiling, I'm going to try to be more realistic than my colleague who compared Coulthirst to Carlos Tevez. As I said, Kane is a Premier League player right now. His ceiling is probably "capable Premier League striker". You know, that guy that can go out and score 12-15 goals for a mid-table team. Basically, he's Steven Fletcher who has had seven consecutive seasons with at least 11 goals."

. I know hindsight is a wonderful thing, and I don't think anyone expected Kane to be the revelation he has been, but so funny reading this now! I had a similar thing the other day seeing some people's tweets when we signed Dier.

Tbf he did say if he was to wax lyrical he would have compared him to Berbatov, but he tried to temper it. it's fine how some people see things and some don't at different times but that's what makes football interesting

And in fairness the Totti/Berbatov comparison is pretty apt in play style, he just wasn't sure Kane would reach that level. Which is fair enough given he hadn't shown much sign of it at the time - in the previous season he'd spent the first half injured, and the second half as a bit-part player for some bang-average Championship side called Leicester.

Bit unfair, they made the play-offs that year. Interestingly it was "big lump" & current Leeds goal machine Chris Woods who kept Kane out of the side. Kane was competing with Woods & Jamie Vardy over who would play alongside David Nugent.

I believe Matthew Craig (CM/AM), Michael Craig (CM/DM), Dermi Lusala(CB, I think), Toni Oluwayemi and Nile John (AM) have been called up too the first England u15 camp.

The twins and John are very good players, know a little less on Lusala, but if it's who I think it is he I think he plays DM and/or CB.. Think we picked him up from Brentford.

Oluwayemi is the highly rated brother of Josh, who has won many GOTTs.

Good that we have 5 at the camp. We have good u15 and u14 groups

Crazy to think if we don't sign anyone and want a 25 man squad ,which I'd say is bare minimum for CL.We will have 7 academy players in squad.Be interesting to know last time spurs had 7 homegrown players in their squad.Sure you'd have to go back long long way.Wonder how many of double winning squad were home grown?

There have been plenty of times over the last thirty odd years where we've had a good smattering of home grown "talent", never in the CL obviously and sadly most of the time said home-growners were god awful. Half a squad of home-grown players was pretty much the norm through the 80's & early to mid 90's. It was around 98-99 that we really started to see the phasing out of the home grown 2nd XI, by 2001-2002 you'd struggle to find a home grown player in the whole squad (Ledders, Clemence, Carr & Alton Thelwell being the only four). The number increased briefly under Hoddle & Pleat but then faded again.

I wish people would stop saying this. I was touting Kane as future England captain when he was 17/18 years old, and I know I wasn't alone.

I know lots of youth followers thought Kane would be a very good player, myself included, but did you honestly expect him to win back to back golden boots, and 3 20+ goal seasons in his first 3 seasons in the first team?

That would be weirdly specific. But like I said - future England Captain. So the oft touted line that no one thought he'd be better than 'decent' just isn't true.

Jack Roles is my current version, although I don't think he'll go quite that far. 'Bought off us for five times what our squad costs' potential though.

I'll admit that I thought Andy Turner was going to be a superstar as well. That one didn't prove to be quite so accurate...

When he first came on the scene, when he played against Port Vale in a preseason friendly I did. No, honest I did.

The following years when he struggled to make an impact at the respected loan clubs I wasn't sure.

Then again, I thought the same about Lee Barnard.

Not sure if this is the correct place to post this or perhaps in the loan watch thread, but Tom Glover sat on the bench tonight as the Central Coast were beaten 3-2 by second tier side Blacktown City in the FFA Cup.

As I said earlier, the Mariners are fucking rubbish. For a bit of perspective, this isn't analogous to a Championship side beating a PL side in the League or FA Cup. While the A-League is professional everything below it is amateur; the teams train 2 or 3 times a week and all the players of these sides have day jobs or study.

Has Glover gone there on loan?

Is Oluwayemi a GK like his brother?

Yes, has won many GK awards

Can't remember exact minutes but across the 14/15-15/16 seasons Kane, Bentaleb, Townsend, Mason, Carroll, and Rose all were actual squad memmbers. I'm sure some were injured at different times though. They all were more significant members of squad, than Onomah, Winks, KWP etc.

I remember 5 of those (all bar Carroll) actually started in the League Cup final that year.
