Absolutely perfectly put! I think he has to move this summer to a tougher league. I agree with you that he will only improve by that. His passing between the lines is so effortless like you say. I think as he grows he will start to control games more and more but he needs a step up. He is only 22 and there are certainly still weaknesses there that you point out excellently.

As an aside, how good does Sabbe look!

He looked super impressive. I need to watch him more to make sure that wasn’t a fluke because if not we need to sign him haha.

haha, he’s been consistently good in his last few games but this was a step up for him. I’m not surprised at all he has it in his locker but honestly thought it would take him a little more time to get there.

Any suggestions for LB competition for Udogie?
I'd say we'd be well worth our while looking at Quilindschy Hartman from Feyenoord. Similar system under Slot who can play inverted full back so shouldn't have difficulties adapting to the demands of Ange and being able competition for Udogie;

If we want an attacking one I’d be considering 22 year old Miguel Gutiérrez at Girona. He leads the league for chances created with 18 and has 6 assists. He’s stronger going forward then defensively but he’s got a lot of potential and a €30 mil release clause that may be able to be negotiated down although Madrid would be due 50% of his sale is think.

Aside from him Aït-Nouri or Alfie Doughty could be an interesting options if we wanted someone already adapted to the PL. Alfie would have the added bonus of being HG and likely pretty cheap I’d think. I know he’s primarily a WB rather than a LB but I don’t see why he couldn’t adapt. Has 7 assists this season.

Ebosele is another that as a bonus can also play LB or RB.

Hes an interesting prospect for sure but he’s def a RWB/RB firstly tho, also his form has dipped quite a lot over the last few months. I don’t think he’s had a start since he got a red against Salernitana. Would need to check.

HG tho obv which is a big plus but I think he needs another full season starting before moving. He’s still very raw, much like Drogu who scored today. Udinese are having an awful season tho and could well go down so be interesting to see what happens to him and a few of their other stars.

On a Udinese note, be interesting to see what happens to Samardžić this summer, for me he is their most exciting prospect.

Just to add, as I mention in the above reply re Ebosele, if we want a young option Patrick Dorgu is by far the most obvious choice but he is also significantly less experienced, he’s only just now begun to start for Lecce. I think he’s had 10 league starts all season and 4 of those were in Lecce’s last 4 games. He’s also supposed to be a big Chelsea fan and said that is his dream club. Not that it matters if they don’t go in for him but if they do it’s a good bet head choose them over us.

If one is happy to go for a LB who is significantly lacking experience, more so than Udogie or Sarr when they came this season, then Dorgu is the obvious move. Imo tho if we were to get him a loan back would 100% be the sensible move hence why I didn’t mention him above.

Style wise he’s perfect tho, fast, very very good on the ball, strong etc. very similar to Udogie. One for the future tho imo.

I’d suggest a more seasoned player, not one for the long term, but someone who can help Postecoglou with his win now ambition. Fredrik Aursnes from Benfica, 28 yo, arguably the best SQUAD player in football. Versatile, intelligent, all-rounder, runs all day. Strong passing game, great vision. Began his career as an attacking midfielder, hence why he move and use the ball like one; gradually played both wide and central, then both attacking and defensive, before he in recent years has been deployed as a full back on either side.

Retired from international football recently, at the time he was the player in European football with the most minutes played. Never stops, rarely injured.

I think Geertruida would also be worth looking at as competition for Porro, plus cover for RCB and LB. Think he is out of contract next summer as well.
