Possession football. Slow passing around the back and our mid. When Harry drifts no one in the box. Son, Ali and hopefully Eriksen back soon will improve our quality in the final third for sure.

I don't think the fact we lack fluidity at times has anything to do with tactics or the system it's more to do with the fact we have such an inexperienced side. We regularly see players make poor decisions on the ball, fail to move into space or wilt under pressure. You're gonna see that if you have so many young inexperienced players. We are still picking up results though so I am willing to be patient as I think once we gain that collective experience we will develop into a very good team.

Last night's team had a ridiculous number of debutants and near debutants in it, so I can understand the lack of fluidity, but generally this season it's been hard to discern any real improvement or clear blueprint to this team. Still a very, very young side overall, so it may take time to bed in consistency.

I think the reason we often seem to struggle is because the players are having to think too much about their game.

Interesting theory.

I think almost the exact opposite. The reason we struggle in certain phases of games - it's rarely whole games - is because players stop thinking enough about what they are supposed to be doing and/or what they have been taught to do, and just start going all native and reactive.

I think we lack fluidity regardless of who is playing we just never seem to look right and our sslow sideways passing just irks me.
However im going to give more time before making judgement calls on pochs system, but certainly we are not free flowing.

That said, I do sometimes wonder if they do over think things. It could explain why attacking play often goes into slow motion. The thought processes possibly being, "what does Pochettino want me to do now, what was I taught?". Which may also explain that it isn't muscle memory yet. It isn't automatic thinking.

I think that's almost an oxymoronic sentence with this team.

I sometimes look at us in games and think that the players can't be allowed or encouraged to tackle each other in training,

The way some of our guys look almost surprised that someone is physically trying to take the ball off them in games indicates that this could well be the case.
