So it was, back in 1991, that as I left Wembley Stadium, having celebrated our win against Nottingham Forest, I was approached by an old crone.

'Mark my words', she said. 'The next time Tottenham make an FA Cup Final, their star player will have breasts.'

'Pah, that will never happen' I replied.

But her look had such a steel to it, that I was sore afraid.

And her words came back to haunt me over the next ten years.

In 1993, in 1995, in 1999 and in 2001.

No semi-final victory. No final.

And I began to wonder whether there was something in the old woman's prophesy.

My hopes were briefly raised in 2005 when we signed Andy Reid.

However, as the semi-final defeats piled up, so did the overwhelming feeling that Tottenham would never reach an FA Cup Final ever again.

And yet, through all that time, Broxbourne Ladies became Tottenham Hotspur Ladies became Tottenham Hotspur Women.

And the team moved from the London and South East Women's Regional League to WSL2 and finally to the Women's Super League.

And then they reached their first ever FA Cup semi-final.

And then, today.

Not the greatest performance, but they were gutsy, and good enough to secure the result.

The prophesy has come true and the curse is lifted.

The women are in the FA Cup Final and maybe, just maybe, the men can do it too now.

Although that's for another year and, indeed, another thread.

For now, I just need to say 'well done' and 'well played' to the women's team.

You've done us proud.

Let's hope you can do us proud again on 12 May.

United won so Clinton can't play in the final. I know it's a rule she can't play against her parent club but that is so crap.

Went to the game today, thought we were very good in the first half and should have scored 2 or 3. Went off the boil in the second but ground it out in the end. Very well done.
