So annoying.

In brighter news, hilarious about how Man Utd have been eliminated. For those that don't know, in the Conti Cup, the best two runners up from the group stage qualify for the quarters. It was us (10 points) and Man Utd (9 points). Villa won their league, but were found guilty of fielding an illegal player against Sunderland. So Sunderland were awarded the match, and ended up winning their group with 10 points, instead of the 7 they did have. Villa dropped from 12 to 9 points, but have a far superior goal difference to Man Utd, so took the second runner up spot instead of them. So Villa's penalty has ultimately meant that Sunderland have qualified instead of Man Utd.

Which is, no two ways about it, very very funny.

Agree, couldn't happen to a nicer club 😂

Angharad James joining Seattle Reign. Quite packed in midfield now with Vinberg, Shuaung and those returning from injury. I do wonder what it means for Amy Turner though. There's quite the trek and time difference between Seattle and Leyton.

Very sad about this transfer. Haz has been great this season. Both their contacts were up this summer so I assume Amy will move over in the summer.

Good couple of days for the women. Kit signed new contract, which I’m very happy about. And today we signed an 18 year old, Araya Dennis, from Arsenal. I don’t know much about her but from how annoyed their fans are, including a friend of mine, she seems like a talent.

Looking the better team but little in it. Definitely the 5th and 6th best teams in the league at the moment.

I find the 442 with Thomas and English upfront frustrating. They both drop back into midfield at times, but neither has the passing ability to make it work and then they lack speed to get back up top. The team looked better with just Thomas upfront earlier in the season; and the pair now seem to be shoehorned into the team rather than choosing one or the other.

I'd rather see a 4231 with Clinton in the middle behind one of Thomas or English.

I'm furious! Wang had time to just slot her shot either side of the keeper & she just wallops it straight at her, then Grant has a simple bit of defending to do and gives it away as a freebie...I'd be ranting in that changing room now🤬

Wang should have hit it with her right, but she's all left foot it seems. Grant had a good game, but kinda spoiled it by not whacking that ball into the stands.

The two new full backs look good. Nilden so nearly won the game, but hit the inside of the post; albeit had she passed to Grant it should have been a tap-in.

Definitely looked more threatening and better balanced when England came off.

It seems to me Vilahamn is trying to accommodate both England and Thomas when we probably look far better with just the one of them up top - is this a fair take?

I've thought that for awhile and mentioned it on here at half time. Since English got back from her injury Vilahamn is playing both her and Thomas who did well in English's place at the start of the season. The balance doesn't look right with both of them in the team and I think they'd do better with a 4231 than the current 442. Today once English went off the team played better going forward.

Interesting thanks! Only just started watching the Womens team on a regular basis this season so still getting up to speed with the squad. Your insights are appreciated

I think Wangs best choice there would have been to pass it to Martha who was unmarked a few yards out and would have had a tap in (she pretty much said that herself in her post match interview) same with Nildens chance that hit the post.

Felt like the goal was a catalogue of errors. Lots of players had the chance to do something but didn't. Charli originally looked like she was expecting Bara to come (which is becoming a bit of a worry, the past few games there have been instances of the defence and Bara not communicating well and it leads to a goal), then once she didn't she tried to be too clever and shield the ball rather than clearing it. Then the midfield didn't cover themselves in glory once it was on the edge of the box. Charli is fairly young though, and don't think it was expected that she'd play this much early on.

Very frustrating.

It’s worth mentioning that Martha Thomas is coming back full an injury too and Beth England was out until December (they we only had 2 games before month long Christmas break, and she wasn’t nearly fit for in those 2 games). So they’ve both been rusty, particularly the first few after the break. And now they’re probably getting fitter we played Manchester City and Liverpool who are 2 tough sides so we’re not going to be having as much of the ball as we’d like to. I think it’s too early to write off playing them both at the same time.
I think part of the issue is how deep Beth drops. Martha puts in a hell of a shift in the 10 and has shown she can play those defence splitting passes and create goals and also still score. It’s just that’s what Beth seems to be trying to do also. I’d prefer her to stay up top more but who knows what the coach is saying!

Not sure this has already been posted...

Really doesn't paint Spurs in a positive light

Not sure why it reflects on Spurs, Enfield Council shut the golf course as it was losing money . Rightly or wrongly they then put out a tender for bids on the land to make money, the Spurs offer was presumably the highest offer, I believe there were other offers.
If this all falls through and Enfield Council have to spend money on managing the land there can be no objection to them passing on the cost to local residents through the community charge.

Once again tonight, not sure the Women managed a shot at goal.

Only a 1-0 defeat tonight which is in no way a disgrace against a good team. Disappointing however to not register a single shot all game.

Our defence was very good last night, mostly kept them to longer range shots (which is unfortunately how they scored). We weren't very fluid going forward. There were so many times when we won the ball back, started to break and the likes of Martha, Celin, Jess were off running and the midfield played a safe ball back to the defence. It was very frustrating to watch it keep happening. Just needed to be a bit braver.

It was a very frustrating night watching that performance. They really gave Charlton too much respect and just should have been able to kill the game in the 1st half. Lot's to criticise, but we won and move on, must do better.
