I mean their qualification matches in early august. They have one qualification round before they get to CL. And in such a match anything can happen, allthough they will be favorites whoever they play.

Doesn't it feel unreal that good as he is, Bentalib is earning more than Kane, the goal-machine?

Hand on heart, how much of that piece could you actually call as gospel?

I'm not at all doubting the credibility, content or the poster, but even if there were 7 prem players all in a room from a variety of clubs would you expect a straight story? I probably wouldn't on reflection and expect quite a degree of distortion, story telling and exaggeration. The MS stuff may well have provided the proof, but maybe not - time will tell.

No need to get the old knickers in a twist (y)

Schneiderlin over, shame but at least now we can move on and probably have a chance of getting a DM in for the first game of the season.

they won't though given their nearest challenger based on last year are shopping on a Lidls budget and a policy of youthful gambles
We just spent £11.5 million, a fairly high amount for a CB, on 26-year-old Alderweireld.

That is one hell of a team Man Utd have now to be fair - was obvious for weeks we were not going to get Schneiderlin so I am not exactly concerned.

I think the unverified stuff reads as credible, and while Trix's stuff is probably true on a practical level, I think he's being a bit harsh on the guy.....not least because most ITKs themselves can only have access to part of the ladder, not all of it. So I figure it's the same pinch of salt with the "unverfied stuff" as it is with all the ITKs stuff. They do their best.

As I have said I believe the info is more than likely genuine and passed on in good faith. I'm not criticising the poster at all, I'm just pointing out that considering the source(a group of young players), a lot of that will just be their opinions.

Seriously though, if united and us were the only teams properly in for him he was always going to end up there, I imagine we would have paid him around 70k a week and united probably more like 120k. He's more assured of a consistent starting place with us but I'm sure he backs himself to become a vital part of their team. It always depended on whether united were seriously in for him or not, and by the looks of it they are.

We move on to other targets now, I think McCarthy would be a very astute purchase and affordable as well going off recent ITK, £15m and Lennon would be very decent imo. In signing McCarthy, Alderweireld and Trippier we take the top performers (or well up there) in their respective premier league teams from last season according to the clubs fans - I think this is a very important point, they watched them week in week out. Think it's easier to point out forward players who have had very good seasons, for example other teams fans would pick out Kane (obviously) and eriksen for us, but how many would pick out Bentaleb and Rose who were excellent last season also, I believe it's very similar with McCarthy, Alderweireld and Trippier - all improve our first team and should be ready to play and perform immediately.

And id imagine those at our club realised we weren't getting him when Utd entered race. Hopefully we have been working hard on other options!

At least Schneiderlin didn't go to Arsenal, i hate Utd but they are the lesser of the 2 evils

I know a few have said it's not likely Bentaleb will be on more than Kane, but are we talking flat rate, or including bonuses?

It's not unrealistic to think Kane will have substantial goal and achievement bonuses attached to his wages which a midfielder like Bentaleb will not, so over the duration of each contract it could even out more. I suppose it depends on how much faith the coaching staff have in him to earn that wage. Perhaps a lot of this supposed dispute over his new contract was off the back of him being praised highly during training, who knows?

Another thought - Bentaleb, whilst a product of several years in our academy, doesn't strike me as the sort of player who is at Spurs for the long haul. Kane does. If Bentaleb is keeping one eye on the possibility of leaving before his contract expires, he may have given up any loyalty bonuses or incremental increases in wages for a higher flat rate, where Kane may see his long term here so will have these written in.

Without seeing contracts none of us will know but i guess if there's any truth in it, however it's written down, we have to have faith in the potential Poch et al believe he has.

He was out in Cardiff recently though to be fair, a place he has no ties with, especially being a Jack. Doesn't prove anything obviously but he could just have been visiting mates or something?

Sure but no reason its Davies in Aberystwyth as any other Spurs player who has friends/relatives there.

I know it's not exactly the info we just got but Alderweireld is staying at a hotel where I live and my friend works there, he had a conversation with him when he went to pay for his meal (Squid Ink Tagliolini).

He pretty much asked the questions you would expect, one being why did he join Spurs, he said that a huge factor was the amount of people he already knew at the club and how highly they spoke of the club.

Nothing huge but it's nice to hear our players are seemingly positive about our club.

If McCarthy is the guy let's get a bid in for him tomorrow. It's pointless waiting around. I'm 50/50 about him but I keep remembering thinking Everton looked like utter shit without him last year. Maybe he's the type of player you only really notice how good he is when he's playing for your own team.

It does show you what an uphill battle we have on our hands when Utd can spend £25m on their sixth first team CM. To go with £18m Carrick, £28m Fellaini, £30m Herrera, £20m Blind and £15m Schweinstiger.

Different world. They have probably spent more in the last three years than we have in our history...

Neg away, but betaleb getting more than the players mentioned :O ... he hasnt played that good yet to warrant it or to any consistency, hope that bit is not true.

I very much doubt they've given Bentaleb more than Kane. It would be a fundamentally brainless thing to do.
