I like MS as a player but with Capoue looking superb at the moment do we really need to be spending £20-30 million on MS? I'm not so sure, I think there is a good chance Poch might decide that he already has what he needs in the squad and with MS's price seemingly rising every day, I'm not sure he is worth the kind of cash being talked about.

To be fair, Capoue looks good against MLS and U21 squads - I trust Pochettino to know whether he looks good enough to go against PL squads every week. Either way - given the depth we seem to be building, Capoue and Schneiderlin make a great pairing, and we would want at least one of them on the field in any kind of rotation.

A few bits trickled into The Goat's shell-like ears…………..JR is not going to force a move, The Goat hears that he is happy with the medical team getting him back to recovery so will happily wait until January and decide what he will do then. Also a little snippet, his Jump increased by 40% in under a year using a resistance machine Poch uses and has taken to Spurs.

Schneiderlin. It's possible that he will be sold AFTER the first game of the season. They are adamant that he will be with the club on the first day of the season to prove a point and hopefully squeeze more money out of us.

My concern is that with Napoli looking likely to sign Fellaini who does that leave that is likely to come up with the sort of money that would satisfy Levy for a Sandro or Dembele? They're top players and will be coveted to an extent, but the number of clubs who both require a player of their type(s) and can afford the amount necessary would seem extremely low to me.

Man Utd. Wasn't Van Gaal his manager at Alkmaar? Aren't United (Van Gaal) looking at shipping out Kagawa, and in need of a Dembele type player ? (it was met with surprise when they never went for him when we got him)

I wouldn't be at all surprised if LVG shows an interest IF Dembele becomes available.

This is somewhat controversial, but Dembele wouldn't have been able to play (in his fashion) had it not been for the excellent Sandro protecting his ass and covering the gaping holes whilst Dembele went wondering.

It could be construed as a dig, but Dembele mostly frustrates me & I'm often baffled by the hype from commentators etc. As far as I can tell, he's just a strong fucker who loses possession easily, then uses his strength to barge his way back into possession. Sorry :oops:

Dembele was very influential in AVB's first season in charge. Largely because (away from home, at least) we adopted a counter-attacking style. Sandro or the defence would win the ball, give to it Dembele who would carry it up the field with considerable speed and he'd pass it to Bale etc to do the rest. The Bale goal up at Old Trafford best demonstrated this. That said, I also find him very frustrating in games when we have the majority of possession. Especially at home against lesser sides. He's too slow to release the ball and he usually passes it sideways.

I really don't want to lose Sandro. I think people are forgetting just how good a player he is. Fitness is a worry but I think he's just been unlucky with injuries recently rather than any longstanding problem. The beast is spurs!

I rate Dembele but I can see why he wouldn't be an ideal fit into Poch's system. From what I saw of Saints last year, they rapidly moved the ball from back to front. Either through quick passing or a long ball. In Schneiderlin and Wanyama, he also had two players who largely maintained their position.

Dembele is a player who runs with the ball and is not often quick to release it with his rather limited range of passing.

However, I would be disappointed if he dismissed Dembele at this stage given he's only had 5 or so training sessions with him. Proir to his hip injury, Dembele was a vital player in our team. If he didn't play, we didn't win.

I don't look at it as "dismissing" any player - more like he is choosing different players. To me thats a big difference. When we get rid of a CM, it won't necessarily be because Pochettino does not rate that player, more likely that he rates other players more (or just as much, and we need to sell 1-2)

I also assume Pochettino has seen enough tape on our players to know their basic strengths and weaknesses. I don't think anyone is making these decisions blindly.

It would be so Spursy for Schneiderlin to play the first game and then get injured in the last minute of injury time...

This is post is really on the money for me.

Just wonder if the hip injury will come into our thinking ie is he going to rid this problem?

Holtby has not really played that ACM role in pre-season, though, has he? I thought he has been one of the wide Ams - albeit they all move about in the game.

Still one CM too many, IMO.

I wouldn't sell Paulinho as it's unfair to brand him as not good enough after 1 season, especially when the majority of the team didn't turn up week in week out. That leaves Bentaleb and Mason, maybe a short term loan (till Christmas) with the option to extend for the remainder of the season should we not suffer another injury crisis.

Demechelis isn't poor at all, he took a bit of time to get used to the league but was genuinely recognised as one of Citeh's top performers towards the end of the season...Ask City fans what they think of him and they'll give you a glowing reference about him. He was very good in the world cup as well.

Especially since he cut his hair.

I was anti Poch getting the Spurs job due to lack of experience but i am liking what i am hearing and there seems to be a real buzz about WHL these days, hopefully he really is who we have been waiting for all these years

I'm no doctor but if an op would cure it surely he would have had it by now?

This injury goes back to his Fulham days.[/quote]
