Given Man City have signed every striker in Europe, surely they've a cast off we can borrow...they may even pay his wages for us again...

Regarding Ade,

I like the player (when he is on form) but.....

People seem to have this perception that he could be our answer (and yes he could be) but the biggest reason why he didnt get the goals last season was that he was never in the box!!!

now if (big IF) we got someone like bernard in to play on the left and bale on the right we would NEED a forward who would not venture any wider than the width of the 18 yard box!!

This is where I think ade would have a problem!!

P.S this is also why I think a player like Paulinho arriving late into the box would benefit hugely from the Bernard signing!!

I'm personally not even entertaining the idea of Bernard, because it isn't going to happen. Soldado and Chadli will do it for me, for around £30m-£32m. I'd think with them and Paulinho we'd have strengthened enough from last year to push on.

I just fucking hope we don't chase Bernard for so long all of our other options become unavailable.

It's rumoured that Bernard has a release clause: DL likes release clauses. Fingers crossed.

I think there is much more chance of Levy forking out big for a 20 year old and than a 28 year old. Now whether Bernard wants to come is another thing altogether but with Sandro, Gomes and now Paulinho here we might have a sniff.

Don't believe we'll pay well over 20 million for Soldado at 28 years of age.

Got my reservations about Soldado. He had a good season just gone, but that's the first time in his career he's ever got 20 league goals in a top flight season. He'd probably do well for us, just feels like there' isn't the possibility of him being a superstar, and for that sort of money given out budget that's what he'd need to be. Goals, sell-on, marketing, the whole package.

I wouldn't mind Remy as a squad player but as our main forward I'd be extremely disappointed. I was under the impression with Baldini in we'd be able to find cheap talents across Europe and South America.

Not sure that release clause applies to clubs outside Brasil, etc yadda yadda yadda.

Edit: Disregard. Only those sneaky Spaniards have wanky clauses like that it seems. Smug gits.

Agree he drifted wide too often, perhaps that is what he was told to do, to allow Bale to burst through the centre late?

Pure guesswork on my part of course.

But do agree we need a striker who lurks in or around the box, and can also play with his back to goal.

Bernard ticks all the levy boxes for me, flair player, rising star, realease clause.

With Sandro and Little Paul here to look after him I would think we have a good chance

Yes last season. But look at their careers. A potential one hit wonder or a guy who has torn the league apart when at arsenal and got a move to Madrid, and did great in his first season with us. Ok he's not as consistent as we like and had a disappointing season in front of goal, but he brings so much else to the table. Just as likely ade will have a storming season this year after a proper preseason as benteke will IMO. And when both on form ade pisses all over benteke.

Off to tour the west coast of America for 2 weeks, will be able to check sc maybe twice, gonna get feverish by the end of it.

Here's hoping for Bernard and a shiny new striker when I return!
