Liverpool are in a chain by all accounts, if they do not sell Suarez they wont be buying a striker so I wouldn't worry about them. They have been turned down by a few targets all ready this summer. And I think their prospects are being drastically overestimated.

you think that if they go to valencia with €30m and £100k wages for soldado, the move wouldn't happen? let's just hope any suarez move takes until the end of the window.

We are also perfectly capable of doing both of those things and if he has a straight choice between the 2, I'm confident he'd choose us.

Cant see why you're confused unless you don't operate several bank accounts .

The club is simply consolidating funds, from several accounts, in to a single account to show the selling club that it has the required funds available to make the single transfer payment. Not too difficult is it ??

Yes, I did put that in the question but I actually asked for insight. What I'd like to know is details but it may have been a bit wishful thinking seeing as I only got one answer which basically told me what I said already which while I'm grateful for, it wasn't really necessary

Liverpool won't pay the asking price, he is not what they need as they are not at the point of challenging at the top like we are, they would far more ikely in fact almost certainly rather pay the same money for Benteke who's 22 and won't be in his thirties by th time they might be ready to challenge again.
Soldado simply is not a match for them currently.
Anyway we've already got him:)
By the way if he's at training the trainers have their job too so they'll test him and he'll go along with it, its better than standing around picking his nose.

ryan is definitely ITK. We all know how. The RO is not the "what is going to happen" forum. It's a "what I've heard" forum. Big difference.

Do you think - given that ryan himself admits openly and freely the limits of his contacts - that he would know exactly the moment we have inked a contract for a new player? Or is it more likely that he just hears good information that we are definitely interested and a deal is nearing completion?

The latter case is what's happening here imo, but - again - let's not pretend we're further down the line than we really are as that way madness lies.

What is apparent (given info from these three and latest from wishkah) is that we are *roughly* as close to signing Soldado as we were to getting Leandro (twice) , Moutinho and Villa. Possible closer. That is, genuinely, pretty bloody close. But it's not actually "done".

The 'd' word is the single most dangerous thing in this thread (including dildos - "the other d word"). And just like a dildo, I wouldn't bring it out unless I was damn sure it was appropriate to use it on the arseholes of everyone present.

Hhmmm....Not filling us with confidence there BO.

If Liverpool sell Suarez they will go into panic buy pay anything mode like they did when they sold Torres.
They paid 35m for Carroll then. It is entirely feasible that that will go in hard for Soldado if it comes to it, I think we need to get this business signed sealed and delivered to head off that possibility.

He acts in his own interests, but no way is the man a slob. I think that is a little disrespectful

Name me a single footballer, coach or manager who doesn't act in his own best interest. Stating the fucking obvious seems a pastime for some people on here.

I agree on this I think we are dallying as usual over a striker and that does leave us open to a rival bid.
I don't think we're dallying, I think we're waiting for Valencia to crack.

That doesn't explain why so many of the ITKs are saying it is done though. It may be the case that we are waiting for them to get a replacement, or it may be that our ITKs are being given false information for some reason. I'm not too sure what the club would gain from that in this case though?

I don't believe that the ITKs are all making up that we are close. Their sources are telling them that for a reason. So the question is, if it isn't true why bother to make it up?
Just to be clear, I mean what do the club have to gain from making this look close if it isn't

Or maybe their sources have been told that it is close and we are confident (at the time of being told), so then the sources believe it is imminent, pass onto the ITKs who then pass on to us.

I disagree with this. I think Liverpool are in a different stage of their development, transfer-wise.

To my mind they've been spending with one eye on Suarez going, Aspas looks a replacement to me & Sturridge has been solid for them. So their forward line isn't necessarily where their problems lie, and recouping £40-50m will give them a kitty but the days of them splashing stupid money on the flavour of the month are probably behind them. Their recent transfers have been far more of the £8-12m variety on younger players with promise. They also appear to have attempted to get business done early & I can't see a reactionary £25-30m bid for anyone off the back of a Suarez sale, it would upset the applecart too much & would be too knee-jerk. I think they learnt from their initial transfer fiascos and are unwilling to subject themselves to similar risks now. They are moneyball-styled & that's the only way they can compete.

Also, if they were in any way serious about signing Soldado, they would have registered substantial interest by now, it's no secret that we are very serious, so if they had any real intention they'd need to be toe-to-toe with us right now. I've seen nothing to suggest that's the case.
A few press links and a 'if we sell Suarez we'll get serious' theory just doesn't wash.

In summary: I don't reckon Liverpool are in for Soldado. No sirree.
