Here's Ali z on coys, I make him right:

Very worried less than 48 hours we still want 2 in but told as an hour ago nothing close.
Considering the Son deal accelerated at an unprecedented pace, i'm not too worried at this current moment in time.

Striker is the absolute must do, no defensive midfielder would be disappointing, but to leave us with only one actual recognised striker with Kane already looking a bit jaded after little rest in the summer, would be horrifying.

We still have time!

That's interesting - I think the club seem to agree with you. But I would have thought some midfield presence to shield our defence would be the priority followed by a striker. Both essential in a way, but you might argue that both Son and N'jie (and even Chadli?) could offer an option up front. I can imagine if Harry Kane is having a rough night that Pochettino might move Chadli into the centre with Son / N'jie on the flanks/inside forward 433 sort of role (or vice versa).

However I do hope that simply signing Alderweireld isn't the proposed solution for the simply terrible defensive record we had last season. I wonder what it might have been like had we not had the best keeper in the Prem... 53 goals in I thought was our main problem, not the number of goals we scored.

I thought it was said in here that jj mentioned it to a&c back in June but it was kept quiet. ?
I dare say he was someone on our radar but it didn't appear to be a deal that dragged on albeit Leverkusen were pretty compliant unlike Peace/WBA.

Unless some preliminary soundings have already been done do not see how we can be bringing someone in from europe unless surplus to needs at existing club. In the past we have done the odd good deal on last day eg VdV and Lloris but i think Poch is more particular in his wants and they will have to fit his system - the different timing of closure for euro window is important.
Thus any incomings will be from PL and the 2 obvious ones are Berahino and Wanamya - but dont think these are doable unless we possibly pay over the odds which though want us to strengthen do not believe we should do.
If its one then think striker to rest Harry is priority.

I love how people are "worried" or "concerned".

Don't be. 11 players will line up once more and we'll cheer them on heartily and hopefully our new heroes will settle and prosper. Whether or not we secured a last minute loan for Alex Song won't matter by then

Why do people think Rabiot is some sort of back up last ditch option, He's probably the best midfielder we've been linked with, I'm not surprised regarding AliZ's info, I have severe doubts about signing anybody

We've pretty much never been totally happy with a window since I can remember, so people need to face the facts, that we probably won't get everything we want by Tuesday. There's no way we can accept no centre forward to back up Harry though. It would be criminal, no matter who else can play there at a pinch.

That's possible but then Germans are known for being efficient and professional the deal might have been going on for weeks.
Where as Peace is known now for being a massive sausage jockey.

Not sure why people are worried. All indications this summer are that we are doing the right business quietly. Not sure why that should change in the last 48 hours just to appease people

We will definitely end up with rabiot after all this. Could've got him 4 months ago

But the deal has always been loan no option.

Surely it's been worth spending 4 months trying to find a permanent solution, before agreeing to that?

Rabiot is an exceptional player. Having him for a year will be excellent

It would very unfair on Harry if we leave him as our only striker.

No deal goes through in 36 hours (the time between us first hearing and announcement) of Son

So whoever comes in, the deal has been worked on for weeks (even if its been put on hold once or twice as better opportunities have been explored)

I think something would need to start breaking quite soon though. Even our under the radar deals like Son and Stambouli still broke a day or two before they happened
