Different position, same sort of quality.

Our system's not so set in stone that if we sold Modric we'd need a direct replacement. We'd need someone clever enough with the ball to unlock teams but whether that's from the centre or from the wing it doesn't matter too much.

Losing Modric but getting in Diarra and Marin and we'd have a stronger team.

I agree, just don't see why so many are suggesting we bring Marin(a left winger) if we let Modric go. He wouldn't fit in, if we are going for a creative type winger at least get a right sided one so we don't have to shift Bale.

wouldnt it be great to sign Rossi, Vucinic and Pjanic and Modric seeing this wanting to stay and DL telling him to get lost to Chelsea for 40m.
Although i really want Modric to stay at least this season..

That would be pretty funny tbh, and then seeing him fail at Chelsea and ending up on the bench  Signing those 3 players would more than make up for his sale.

i dont understand this marin to replace modric, marins a winger

I wasn't saying he was direct replacement but we would better with him in the team, I would personally have him back up for bale and starting on the right like he does for germany until he gets back in form

Or behind the striker like he use to for Werder and move VDV in to DM like he does for Holland

I see, personally then i would have him in ahead of VdV, i am not VdV's biggest fan, fantastic player but he is far to injury prone and it doesn't help consistenct whatsoever.

Am I reading Scout's itk correctly? Three £30m players? One at a push maybe. Three? Never going to happen.

This may sound stupid but it might be easier to get 3 top players than 1. If Levy works on all 3 at the same time he can use them to sell the club to each other. For example he can tell Rossi that we are ambitous and bringing in Falcao and Marin as well as himself and then tell Falcao that we want to do great things and are bringing in himself Rossi and marin. Just a thought

ATM I'm so down that my post don't even make sense to me AND i cant even think of 3 players that would come to us at that price

Drogba and Sturridge plus 20m for Modric. Then we buy Diarra, Hazard, Mata and Marin

Its not about the price of the player. 3 £30m players could be 3 players of the quality of James Milner, Andy Carroll and Darren Bent, who have been sold for near a combined £90m.
Its about qualiy. If we spent only £30m, and signed another group of players of the class of Modric, Berbatov, Sandro, VDV, we'd have done a bloody fantastic job. Much better than blowing £90m. The mentioned 4 cost a combined total of what? £40m?

I'm not too concerned about how much we spend. I am concerned about the quality of the player we bring in.

Today, for the first time, I feel like Modric wont be here come September.

DL not happy with Modric's comments in the press today. Luka has made things 100 times worse for himself with his outburst...Personally i would rather we sold him to Barcelona or Real for 20million than to Chavski or United for 30. And even tho he has been my favourite player at the lane and was our best player last season he is replaceable. For someone of his ability he doesn't get enough goals or assists. Even Charlie Adam got more in a relegated Blackpool team. Bid for Diarra going in this week and expect 2 departures with the players going on tour this week..

I agree with Roger Morgan, in that Luka can't complain about Levy going back on the promise of a 'serious offer'. £22m is nowhere near serious for one of the top midfielders in europe.

Also, Luka says himself that Levy promised 'discussions'. That's very different from promising to accept ANY offer that comes in.

If he refuses to play, stick him in the stands. His value is going to be the same at the next window, and the one after that. We have to show that clubs can't continually be held to ransom by fickle little shits.

It fucks me off how we seem to take one step forward and two steps back every couple of years because of twats like Berbatov and Modric.

Thanks for the info.

Do you think Luka will be sold?

What worries me is the likes of Bale now!
I didn't expect this from Modric!
I doubt he will give 100% to Spurs.
Sell him for at least 50million and buy 2-3 quality.
But who can we realistic attract - leftovers???

I didnt see Roger Morgans statement about which RB Villa would prefer from us. Was it posted here?

Anyway.
"Villa would prefer Corluka ahead of Hutton and last week were waiting to see how the Luka thing panned out before pushing ahead with Hutton. They hoped any sale of Modric would see Corluka go too."

Maybe our 3 Croation Amigos, who Harry has never had a bad word to say about, could all be goners. I like Charlie. Think he can improve, but potentially teh best defensive RB in the league.
