For me when you compare players you should do so with others that play the same position, for the most part there's no point comparing Bale and Cazorla when they are completely different players and have different responsibilities for their teams.

The only exceptions are the very best, sometimes those that would be up for individual awards (subjective) at the end of the season.

Bale is probably the best (left) wide forward in the league but he isn't the best player in the league.
