Looking forward to the draw next week and hoping we don't get Manure or Chelscum, what are people's views of the pros and cons of going away on the "official" package compared to making your own way there? The couple of times I've been away to Europe I've stuck to the official package and it's been ok for me. But views welcome!

Something nice to think about as well for the next week or so.

I went on the Thomas Cook package for the A.C. Milan away leg and got to say I thought it was really good, well organised and stress free.

It was good for me as I would have been just short by about ten loyalty points had I applied for tickets alone.

Nick, did you compare the price difference between the Thomas Cook package and the DIY way and how much was the difference?

I booked a flight to Milan and back for about 100 quid the week before the game and picked up a ticket the day of the match from a bank for 16 euros. Reading this forum I knew where to meet for the pre drinks and it all felt like an adventure. I don't like organised fun. I will point out however that I am 22 with no dependents and went travelling alone for 6 months last year.
