I'm just going to enjoy the fact I'm there this evening. Nice to bookend the whole process having been at the WHL send off game as well.

Probably not the place to ask but what the hell:
In September I turn 40, and I am looking into getting an exec box/ premium ticket for myself and a few friends and family. Do you think the club would do this as a one off or would I be best trying to find someone with a box and tying to take it for a day?
I think this would be the fairest system. Obviously I'm all for people who go week in, week out getting priority, but the trouble nowadays is that by having such a massive % of the stadium being ST holders, they've made it a completely closed shop for people who just aren't able to go regularly for various reasons. Apparently by the time you factor in STs, away allocation, closed rows for segregation etc. there are only something like 7k tickets in total that go on sale to members, which given that there are supposedly over 100k members, is clearly nowhere near enough. The way it is now unless you live in London and have enough money to afford to go all the time, you've got no chance of getting anywhere near tickets even to a shit PL game. And no way of getting any more LPs even if you wanted to go all the time. How are the next generation of fans supposed to come through in this scenario? And more short term how many people are going to continue to pay the 50/60 quid membership fee every year if they know they still won't come anywhere near meeting the LP cutoff?
I think a good compromise would be something like 50% of remaining tickets go into a LP-based ballot (e.g. those above X LPs are eligible), then 30% go to a members-only ballot (open to all members regardless of LPs), then 20% go to a general sale ballot to anyone and everyone. That way there's a benefit to having LPs and being a member, but doesn't completely exclude newcomers and/or those who haven't been able to go to games for whatever reason e.g. moving abroad for work, not having the money to go all the time any more etc. etc.
I think that'd be a good compromise personally.
Yep, think thats a great and very fair system, albeit i do think you should be a member to qualify for the ballot.
I think it's important that there's at least some possibility, even if it's a slim one, that you can get a ticket on general sale sometimes. How else are people supposed to start supporting Spurs? So in my example above I've said 20% of the leftover could go on general sale, but maybe it could be less 2.g. 10%. So if the figures I read about it being 7k in total are correct, then that would mean that:
Obviously being a high LP member or paying member wouldn't exempt you from the lower ballots so a high LP member would be eligible for all 7k tickets on sale, whereas general sale people would only be eligible for the remaining 700. I think that's a good way to make the LP/membership system worthwhile for those who can go regularly, but also doesn't completely and utterly exclude people who, for reasons like living abroad/not being financially well-off, aren't able to go all-in on a membership and attend games every couple of weeks.
- @60% - high LP members only would have exclusive access to 4200 tickets in a ballot
- @30% - all remaining members would have access to a further 2100 tickets in a ballot
- @10% - general sale/non-paying members would have access to 700 tickets in a ballot
The way things are right now is all fine and dandy for the next 5-10 years but long term I think it's a real problem if attending games is a completely closed shop. Also like I say if having a membership is basically useless cos you can never get a ticket unless you've already got massive LPs, then out of the 100k+ paying members we supposedly currently have, how many of them will keep paying up every year if they're literally tens of thousands of places off of getting a sniff at any tickets? It makes the membership system a complete waste of time/money for anyone who doesn't already have years worth of LPs saved up
Yep, understand what you’re saying but I’d rather tickets went to people who had made a commitment to the club, i.e. become a member, than going on general sale.

What the actual fuck, it's not even 10am yet
Donut of death saying that City has now sold out.
Wife told me last night that she wanted to surprised me with a membership and ticket for Palace.
She picked the wrong day to try and get the membership though - sat on the donut screen for 4 hours and eventually gave up.
