Makes a bit of a mockery as to the 'season to settle down' argument doesn't it....

Not really. Different players adapt differently. Of course it helps that Bale's gone into a settled team, albeit with a new manager, in a league where virtually every team bar three is just there to make up the numbers and spread themselves for Real and Barca on a weekly basis.

Inventing Aids, starting WW1, Justin Bieber, genital warts, 9/11, giving birth to Simon Cowell, faking the moon landings, the assassination of Princess Diana, kiddyfiddling priests and the extinction of the dinosaurs for starters .

That bastard!!!

Bale is psychologically strong and has all the physical qualities you need to succeed any where.

Have to disagree sir, sorry! What with moving his family over I'm surprised it hasn't effected him more!
Top boy though, nothing but admiration for the guy

For the record Bale has not been very good at Real Madrid. His goal yesterday was more like how he played for us, but that 20 goal number is very misleading.

No, that's a response to an argument that almost no one is making. Individually, it's obvious that some players (Eriksen, Chadli) adjust to the local style of play faster than others (Soldado, Lamela). But that isn't the issue.

Bale has arrived in a settled squad of players who are nearly all already familiar with Spanish football. Our problem this season has been that we acquired seven players who had never played here before and the management apparently assumed that they would all magically form a smoothly-functioning team in a matter of a few weeks and then sweep all before them.

It's the fact that we have tried to incorporate so many players who are new to the league that is the reason why the team's cohesion has suffered so badly. It's not about individuals. It's about the team.

Surely having his family with him is going to help him settle in? But like I said, different players adapt to new countries differently.

I think he hasn't been helped by the fact that Ronaldo's the star that the team is built around. It can't be a coincidence that Bale shone when Ronaldo wasn't playing.

Also, they were calling Modric the worst purchase of La Liga in his first season.

In some ways I think that's helped him. It takes some of the pressure off him.

That plus the fact that its easier moving to a league which is less physical and slower than your used to rather than vice versa. Most newbies dont know whats hit them when they first come to EPL.
Thats my 2 pennys anyway ;)

The Welshman has performed well in Spain this campaign, scoring 20 goals in 38 appearances, including a superb solo winner in Wednesday night's Copa del Rey final against Barcelona.

Yeah right, it is misleading. Wish we had a few players who weren't very good this season.
Seriously mate what are you on? You cant score 20 goals from 38 games, score the winner in a cup final all in your first season and 'not been very good'. He scored in his first game as well.
Sorry I have to disagree with you on that one.

Watch the games.

Bale hasn't been anywhere near his best for Madrid. I didn't say he was bad or anything. He scores goals because Madrid score for fun and against teams worth hundreds of millions less than them. Anyone can score in that team. He hasn't turned up against the big teams and was the worst player on the pitch for Madrid in both league Clasicos. Why in the world would it matter if he scored in his first game or not?

Once again. I'm not saying he has been a total flop or anything, but ask any Madrid fan and they'll tell you he hasn't been great and definitely not close to deserving of his price tag. He still did score 20 in 38, which you have to respect, but he hasn't been good. I like him, so I do hope the goal yesterday gives him some confidence (albeit it could have been easily prevented by Bartra).

Funny how I made a similar post in a thread a month ago and got all agrees, now he scores one nice goal and I'm getting disagrees/WTFs.

Didn't Tim say Bale would be here 'a million percent' during the summer?

Also wasn't Bale supposed to be somewhat fragile and insecure, so for him to have the impact he is having in his first season is something to be proud of and goes to show that playing football is the best way to get settled **cough** Lamela **cough**

And I agree to an extent he hasn't been an overwhelming success for Real as he has been a passenger in a lot of games, but like a lot have said I wish our passengers would contribute to 36 goals between then let alone by themselves

Tim's comments about Bale are nothing but a pop at DL, now he knows he is off we will see alot of little digs at the board and DL......isn't it what his mentor 'Arry would have done? Tim is hardly going to go away quietly is he?
