even though he is not going to sign an extension to his contract. If true, that's a great gesture by Spurs board which Berbatov will appreciate.

Yes, I do.

Interesting.

Berbatov has great skill as a footballer but has to work harder on other aspect of his game to become a truly great player...it may be the reason he ended up at Spurs and not the bigger teams in Germany, Spain at his age etc.

Its apparent the people around Berbatov(himself too) are engineering a move away from the club, statements like 'for now' indicate his deep feelings towards his career and a move from this great club.

1. Do you have any information as to where he'll probably end up playing next season?

2. Do you believe that Spurs supporters do not appreciate Berbatov?

3. Do you believe Berbatov is to good for this club?

4. Do you support Spurs?

5. Do you think the money in the premiership has corrupted his thought process? In Germany he seemed much more happy playing football at BL for 5 years.

6. Do you believe THFC have done more for Berbatov or that Berbatov has done more for THFC?

Thanks for your questions. I cannot answer all of them for different reasons. No one could say what will happen next transfer window, let alone next summer. If Spurs fail to compete for a top 4 spot, he may leave in January when he will turn 27. Most Spurs supporters appreciate Berbatov and this is the main reason why he is going to stay for another season. Is Berbatov too good for Spurs? Well, that expression "too good for" is of little use. What does "too good for Spurs" mean? If "too good" means he has the class to start for the biggest clubs in the world, then the answer is positive. If "too good for" means "pointless to play for", then the answer is negative. Has THFC done more for Berbatov than he has done for THFC? That's another vague question since you cannot measure such things. Last season he played like a 100 k per week striker but was paid much less. He contributed immensely to what was a pretty good season for Spurs. You may respond that Spurs brought him in the best league in the world and thus made him more popular. Yet, if Spurs were not that persistent, he would move to Man U and he might be now even more popular. Money have nothing to do with his career decisions. He is eager to win titles and cups, since he hasn't done it so far.

I know many Spurs fans are disappointed by his behavior. I don't blame them, perhaps they have their good reasons. But once he regains his form from the Spring, they will love him again. He will have better games than the Bolton one, that's certain.

I for one really don't like the noises coming from Berba and his agent. To be honest even if we do have a great season and get 4th, I think he will still go.

Look what happened when Arsenal sold Anelka, that sort of money buys a lot of quality...........although I would rather keep Berba!

Man U don't give up:

£22m Berbatov is Reds target

Stuart Mathieson
28/ 8/2007

SIR Alex Ferguson is today pondering an 11th-hour £22m bid for Dimitar Berbatov.

But the Reds will face stubborn resistance from Spurs and if Fergie's overtures are rejected ahead of Friday's transfer deadline, then he will have to wait to make a New Year swoop when the window re-opens.

After the Bulgarian striker's impressive Old Trafford show on Sunday, a move for the 26-year-old will get a unanimous seal of approval from United fans.

He’s a great player but feel his heart isn’t in it with the noises we’re hearing.

After all we finished 5th in the league WITHOUT Berbatov... although we didn’t do as well in the cup games.

If we can get big money for him come Jan or the summer then sell him. Players like Bent, Lennon, Bale, Lee, King, Dawson, Keane, Jenas etc all seem to want to play for Spurs. You don’t hear about them in the press wanting to leave or to want more money. They quietly go about their business professionally.

I don’t feel the Club have acted professionally at all in the last couple of weeks and it’s not helped by Berbatov’s agent seemingly trying to create more problems public for the Club.

However good Berbatov is I don’t want his agent nor him stirring trouble in the camp affecting other players and the reputation of the Club.

I can’t help but think once we have Lennon fit & our central defence with King & Dawson that we will look like a different team with more confidence. Berbatov & Bent on paper should be able to form a formidable partnership but it doesn’t help that Bent is injured and the midfield aren’t performing to the best of their abilities whether it through injury (Lennon) or under-performing (Jenas).

Berbatov’s antics on the pitch don’t help players & supporters either. Fair enough have a go at his team mates in the changing rooms or even shouting at them whilst still trying to chase the ball down like all good strikers do... but to throw a hissy fit with throwing his arms up and down and walking with his head down does not help anybody. I can understand his frustrations at times but he needs to be much more positive with his on field attitude. Keane is also prone to this sort of childish, self-centred attitude. It’s pathetic and achieves fuck all.

the sun says he's only been put up to £30,000-a-week so not sure what he's on to be honest...i'd be surprised if he was now the top earner considering the unexcitement in his quotes where he suggests it's a token gesture...if it was a small pay-rise to become the highest paid player at the club, you'd think he'd be a bit more happy about it...I would anyway!

The " staying for now" part of the interview may mean he is staying as long as BMJ is staying.

I think it’s quite obvious Jol & Berbatov are quite close. I think Levy and the rest of the board may have wanted to sell Berbatov for big money but Jol didn’t want him to go. Jol even said himself that “Berbatov loves me” & “I’d rather die than sell Berbatov”.

They’re pretty strong quotes and to say Berbatov wants to stay there as long as Jol is there is probably quite accurate.

Berbatov and his agent are doing a lot of carrot dangling & it's really starting to grate on me. I don't like players who use my club and my loyalty to take the piss. I'm all for stars, but I want people to want to play for Tottenham, not use us for a stepping stone.

Even if we finish 4th Berbatov will not extend his contract. He will have 2 years left on his contract in the summer. if united bid 22m then the board will have to sell

we just have to enjoy his perforances for this season. He will be with us for the whole season

oh and there's no way he's on £60k or even our top earner. He will have been bumped up to £30/35k and would be brought in line with our top earners IF he signed an extension.
