Tin Jedvaj, 17-year-old defender from Dinamo Zagreb.

The next young Dinamo player you'll probably be hearing about in the near future. Was called up to the senior side during the winter break to train with the team, but was supposed to be loaned out to an affiliate in the second division. He impressed so much during that time that he not only earned a place in the squad but also a place in the starting 11.

So far he's played 4 games and has really caught the eye. The biggest surprise was how well he played in only his second professional match, away to their biggest rival Hajduk Split. Not only did he keep his nerve, but he was probably MOM. Some very timely challenges, and he assisted on their first goal, after a won tackle, run and good ball forward.

He's not a big player but quite athletic and good in the air despite not being tall for a CB. He also likes to get forward. He will join the attack when he sees an opportunity. He is said to have a very strong mentality. Nothing really fazes him.

Here's his game vs. Hajduk. It caused everyone to really take note. He received a lot of compliments from Hajduk supporters as well.

I'm not saying he'll get the attention that Alen Halilovic eventually did, but I don't doubt his name will start to get mentioned with interest from "bigger clubs." Anyway, someone to keep an eye on.

Seem like a good project but 17 is still young and hard to say whether he'll make it or not. But at 188 cm he's not that short at all though ;)
Btw, I remember Spurs and former academy Real Madrid CB from Hrvetska, Eduard Husinec on trial; who now plays in the 2nd division in Hrvetska. So one never knows what the future holds.

Reports coming out now that Jedvaj is going to Roma. Some sources (Sky Italy) claiming it's basically a done deal.

Mother******. (Apparently) Another one bites the dust.

Feel free to remember/mark his name. He's a terrific prospect. Di Marzio just referred to him as a "phenomenon."

From the microphones of the same satellite broadcaster, Gianluca Di Marzio lets you know that the cost of the operation will be around to a digit between 7 and 10 million euro. An important, therefore, for a player who according to the insiders can become a real top player. So much so that it was also followed by many prominent clubs.

I know Roma have been following him for months. I wonder if Baldini had a hand in it.

Croatian media reporting that Jedvaj to Roma is basically only missing him putting pen to paper, but that Arsenal have come in with a late bid. (They still believe he's Rome bound.)

Reports out of Croatia saying that Dinamo turned down a 6-7m euro (plus a % of a future transfer) offer from Roma.

Arsenal have also made a bid.

I think Dinamo "smell blood" and will try to hike up the fee as much as possible. I still hope they keep rejecting offers and leave him in a Dinamo shirt for some years to come.

The praise he's been getting is impressive. From scouts, journalists, players, coaches and agents (who aren't associated with him).

The kid (again, 17-years-old) has played only 13 games. Crazy money for a kid of that age/experience, but again, there's something about him. It's been a meteoric rise.

From joining Dinamo's winter "preseason" late (where he was initially only going to practice a bit with the first team, then go back to the junior team), to not only making the team, but immediately impressing so much that he forced his way into the starting 11. He's been great wherever they have played him (CB, RB and DM) and looks way more mature/ready than his age would suggest. He was actually called up to the provisional squad for Croatia's last qualifier.

I wish I had some more video available to highlight some of things that impress me so much about him. The way he deals with certain situations. Doesn't panic. Calmly wins the ball and keeps it in play where others would unquestionably kick the ball into the stands. He goes in hard too (sometimes over-zealously), but it's his cool head in pressure situations that really stand out.

Good on the ball, quick, can jump and attack headers well, holds the line, makes forward runs, great timing for tackles, etc. He's got a lot going for him. Will be really interesting to see where he ends up. For the time being, I hope it's still at Dinamo.

Should Spurs be interested? YES.

Sky, problems in business Jedvaj: Dinamo for the offer is too low

Thursday, 20 June 2013 17:48

On the day that are the masters of the co-ownership to be determined within 19 hours otherwise it will appeal to the envelopes, an unexpected problem arose.

It's about the deal Jedvaj. The Croatian footballer class '95 is owned by Dinamo Zagreb and it is precisely the Croatian club to interfere in step with the Giallorossi the young defender.

According to the Dynamo, the supply of Rome is too low. In this way, however, is likely to start a rod with the other contenders to clinch Tim Jedvaj. (SKYSPORT)

Basically, expect a "bidding war."

Zdravko Mamic just said he's 100% not going to Roma. Called the deal off. He's upset with how the dealt with things and the way they tried to rush through a deal/response.

- When I had the time and was available, they (Roma's reps) were busy. Then I went a short 5-day holiday, and told them I'd be back in Zagreb on Thursday. Yesterday I notified them that I would be available before that time and that they could schedule a time and place for the meeting. Either in Rome or in Zagreb. Roma sent an official offer, started to get anxious, especially on Wednesday. They called a number of times, and in their last message they sent my brother (who is Dinamo's sporting director) it wrote: "We need a response by 21:00 Thursday." Zoran told them I'm on my way, and that they'll have to wait. I arrived in Zagreb at 21:15. We sent them a message to Rome saying that Jedvaj isn't for sale! Nobody is going to blackmail Dinamo and dictate deadlines! We're a serious club, and no one can treat us that way, not even a club like Roma!

- Jedvaj is 100% certain not going to Roma! But I can't say whether he will go or not (this summer). There are a lot of inquiries for him.

Maybe Levy is the only one who can pull off the "I'm not leaving without him (Modric)" approach.

Are you really going to "let him" go to Arsenal?

There's an unnamed third team that's also very involved. Who knows. Believed to be from the premiership. According to Dinamo's boss "half of Europe" is interesting in him (which wouldn't surprise me), but now they are dealing with concrete offers (Roma, Arsenal and said third club).

Dinamo Zagreb, on Jedvaj now there is the advantage in Tottenham
25.06.2013 00:11 by Simon Lorini Twitter: @ Simone_Lorini

During the evening broadcast by Sky dedicated to the summer transfer market, the renowned expert on tip issuer satellite Gianluca Di Marzio has revealed the latest on Tin Jedvaj, Croatian defender of Dinamo Zagreb in recent days that seemed to be very close to Rome, and now instead could end up at Tottenham.

Would be ideal to do a buy-and-loan type purchase. He'll need matches and seeing as how he appears highly rated he should get some decent offers, maybe after a couple of appearances in pre-season.

Loan him to Dinamo for a year or into our U21's and Europa League squad. We really need a player this age coming through, it's our one weakness in the youth squad.

With Kaboul back this coming season though no doubt needing a bit of playing time to get really match sharp, plus Daws, Verts and Caulker I would say we don't really need a CB, however with a few suggestions that Rodgers would pay a decent fee for Caulker maybe AVB sees this lads playing style as offering a player far more suited to the way he wants to play.
I have to say even at Swansea I thought Caulker was getting overhyped and he was far from impressive in all but a couple of games he played for us last season. Of course he's still young and has time on his side but if AVB thinks he has an opportunity to get a player with the style and skilset he wants whilst selling off a player that maybe doesn't quite fit what he is looking for and still make a profit on the deal then it could prove a shrewd deal

My only negative thought on that is that we still look pretty weak aerially at the back and struggle defending corners and free kicks and that Caulker has the height and strength to develop his dead ball defensive game, then again with Kaboul back and Verts now having a year of PL under his belt maybe AVB will be working on aspects like that more where last season it was one of getting the CB's working together and that was a pretty constantly changing thing
