Just for those that are holding out any lingering remnants of hope, spare yourself the anxiety and inevitable let down.
Under normal circumstances I would also be holding out some hope, but we're going into the final 3 games of the season with a manager who has absolutely no incentive to see us finish 4th; in fact, he is incentivised to see us finish as low as possible in the league now.
The reason being, that the only thing standing between him and the England managers job now, is the compensation the FA will have to pay us. As it stands a growing number of fans want Harry gone, and rightly so; our collapse since Christmas, with the exclusion of the Newcastle game, has been totally unacceptable. All of this though, only serves to weaken Levy's negotiating position, and will have the effect of reducing what the FA have to pay. Harry can't remain in the job now, things have soured too much between him and the fans, and I don't doubt with the chairman too. If Levy fires him it would suit Harry down to the ground; not only would he get a pay off from spurs, but the FA wouldn't have to pay any compensation. Levy can't get someone else in to manage the team while Redknapp is still there, because that would be a breach of Redknapp's contract and he would have grounds for rescinding it. It's not in spurs interests to delay getting rid of Redknapp because we need to get a new manager in asap and let hims start on building a team, and replacing the aging players that Redknapp has loaded the squad with. If we were to finish 4th, and Chelsea don't win the CL, then it would be the only scenario under which Redknapp could plausibly remain on as manager - even though a large proportion of the fans wouldn't want it, but there would be some, slight, justification for it.
With Chelsea in the CL final, our chances of qualifying for the CL have been diminished even further, so not even 4th might be good enough.
Who knows, maybe Levy will give Harry his blessing to go and Redknapp will all of a sudden have incentive to finish the job he started; Chelsea might not win the Champions League and we could pip Newcastle to 4th. If we cling to this hope then we will almost inevitably be disappointed; if we don't, and it happens, we will be overjoyed.
So, do yourselves a favour, accept that our season is over, chalk this down to just another disappointment as a spurs fan and ask ourselves what we can learn from this situation, as a club, and as fans.
