I don't know something along the lines of don't expect Poch to stay come end of the season if Alder is offered a new deal but from where I'm sitting, Alder and Poch had issues and Alder has been an absolute pro with his performances, not once let any talk of his future affect his game and I'd have to question the stubbornness of Poch if he didn't allow Alder a second opportunity based on his professionalism.

But surely that is the point. Toby has been our most consistently picked CB. If that isn't a ringing endorsement that the situation between them is resolved then I have no idea what is.
If people are not happy with that then I guess they should wait for the sex tape

So Poch and Toby have 'issues'
and Poch has given Levy
an 'It's me or him ultimatum'

Grow up or fuck off to all involved
Thanks Mr.P eternally grateful
but no person is bigger than the club
it's history and it's fans.

As long as it's not
Mourinho or Allardyce who comes in.
Or Pardew or... make your own list.

Jimmy, as much as I almost always agree with what you have to say, you are castigating Poch over something that sounds like nothing more than gossip.

Makes it a bit strange that he plays virtually every match, yes? Perhaps it was malicious bullshit, like so much "ITK".

Why is anyone surprised? Alderweireld tested the market this summer, with his release clause as the hook. Result: tumbleweeds. His negotiating position has suffered accordingly.

He has two choices: wait until next summer when he can leave for free and hope there is more interest, or sign a new deal and keep playing where he's been content in footballing terms for years.

Hope there's more interest? If he stays fit and keeps playing well, with no transfer fee why wouldn't there be more interest?!

Touche mon brave.
I should have said 'if this is true'
but as davidmatzdorf correctly asserts
likely 'malicious bullshit'

I was actually responding to an answer
to a question I posed
about the logic of the whole Poch/Toby situation
Still suffereing from post Newcastle despondency.

Stop digging Jimmy.

Good question. Equally good question: why wasn't there more interest this summer? The whole of the football-commentating-pundit community was certain there would be a queue of rich clubs waving £25m in notes and jostling for his and Levy's attention. Why were they/we all totally wrong? Given the undeniable quality of the player, the only plausible answer that comes to my mind is that he overestimated what the market would pay for his services and put the other clubs off.

The absence of a transfer fee next summer is a red herring. Everyone now knows that top-class footballers who run down their contracts expect most of the unpaid transfer fee to be added to their salaries.

Tottenham is a bird in hand. Free agency, as they call it in baseball, is two in the bush. If Alderweireld and his agent haven't been given pause by this summer's lack of interest, they're bullish past realism. I'm not predicting that Toby will sign a new deal (I don't do predictions, I try to do analysis). I'm explaining why it's realistic for the club to reopen the discussion right now.

Why does he keep picking him then? And not Verts. who actually wants to Stay. All very weird.

I keep being told (by Gooner mates admittedly) that Jan and Harry has a bust up with fists flying which would explain Jans black eye
Apparently Poch has sided with Harry which explains him being dropped etc

I said it’s a load of bollocks but it won’t go away

Fixed for you mate. My advice would be to find new mates.

It's an absolute bonus for us if he re-signs as far as I'm concerned.

That came from some **** on Twitter, who goes under the moniker of 'spursITK' or some such other dickish name.
I'd file it under 'bullshit'.

Plus, I reckon it was a left hander who landed one on Jan...:sneaky:

Good idea but I quite like doing missionary work

If we lose on Sunday I will be getting some major stick

I’ve predicted 2-0 away win

Harry and Sonny one each half

What can possibly go wrong?

Nicely ducked. His team made it clear he would be seeing his contract out so no-one bid. I wouldn't call that analysis, just the likeliest explanation. But I will predict he goes to China. Might be wrong, but no need to take myself too seriously...
