It's unbelievable isn't it? What on earth motivates these people? After the cricket coach attack I would have thought that security would have been tightened up at all these prestige events but I suppose they find a way.

I do hope everyone survives but I am sure no-one will want to play in the tournament after a devastating experience like that.

I hope the World Cup itself has got all bases covered in this respect.

According to reports at least three Togo players and the bus driver suffered injuries during the attack.

''I'm okay but several players are in a bad state,'' Togo and Nantes striker Thomas Dossevi told French radio station RMC.

''We are still at hospital. We were machine-gunned like dogs and had to remain hidden under our seats for around 20 minutes to avoid the bullets.''

A club spokesman for Manchester City said they were aware of the reports and were trying to contact striker Emmanuel Adebayor to establish what has happened.
Togo are scheduled to begin their cup campaign against Ghana on Monday.

FFS.

From the beeb:

A bus carrying Togo's national football team to the Africa Cup of Nations has been hit by machine-gun fire, injuring two players, reports say.
The reported incident occurred as the bus was en route to Angola from the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The Africa Cup of Nations is due to start in Angola on Sunday.
Togo's first game is to be played on Monday in the oil-rich northern territory of Cabinda, where rebels have been fighting for independence.
The identities of the wounded players are not known. There are unconfirmed reports of serious injuries.
The Togolese team includes Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor.

Bollocks.

This has put a real downer on an otherwise rather splendid week. Bastards.

This could have been far worse. There was another bus in front of the players' bus that was carrying luggage. It was decimated reportedly
