Looked really good today, especially in the first half. He's getting better with each passing game

Good game from him today, really quite a decent tidy little CM. Probably not quite starting material but a good squad player for sure.

some of those defense splitting ground passes he threaded tonight... haven't seen that in a long while ever since huddlestone left us. good news on the contract extension as he's vision is a good weapon to bring from the bench when needed.

Played very well and kept the game flowing towards Leicester's goal. A little weak in his defensive duties, similar to Eriksen, but several of his passes were excellent, splitting/getting behind the Leicester defense. My MOTM.

I don't know if that's necessarily true. Do we have a bunch of people clamouring for James Ward-Prowse on here? He's just as good and does a pretty similar job/role.

I don't know mate, over the summer I saw quite a few people wishing to sign Ward-Prowse, and I said exactly the same as you that I thought Carroll was at least as good or better from what I had generally seen of Carroll and when they played together for England. Carroll just needed chances. You can search the forum I could post examples but some people might get annoyed

Almost back from the "dead" as far a Spurs his career was concerned to bossing the game today. Another academy player who Poch has "revitalized".
One can also see he's getting more adventurous in his attacking style, which I presume is down to his is confidence growing.
I wish Townsend had the ability to "assimilate" what Poch has "Infused" in so many of the young (and older) players at Spurs.

Was critical of him last week, probably unfairly, but he's changing my mind. Growing in confidence, more comfortable in possession and becoming more attack-minded. Really like what I saw from Tom today.

Again, good first half, second half struggled (as did others) as the opposition started to press forward and were more aggressive.

Really like that he tries to make that killer ball, the assist for the assist, if he could just develop another area of his game that he could get into that next level.

His performances has been well below par this season imo. Doesn't look like the same player.

I don't know if you are implying that that is the reason you or others may have wanted him signed, but form e that is the major frustration I find. There are lots of talented English players out at the moment not getting chances and some are getting chances. Because of Poch WP was one getting chances, so at the moment he was the player everyone wanted, but all along we had our own player in the ranks. I've never looked at WP and thought he had anything our own players don't have. Thought Carroll has always looked a decent player but WP was playing with players he has always known at a club he knows for a manager that had faith in him. Carroll is now reaping those same benefits and Soton players would probably now want Carroll over WP.

Strange game, but it's why I always believe just try and use what you have. Carroll may not be significantly better but Poch's system is one that works when everyone pulls together, outside of it he may not look particularly better but it just means we can save money to spend on genuine quality rather than a someone looking better because he is getting chances. I generally believe people underrate young player's ability to step up and overrate the difficulty of playing in the PL. Most players produced at top academies are a lot better than the majority of PL players, once they are trusted and learn to play with adults they are more than capable.

Quite predictable and limited player, but useful to some extent none the less. The one thing I offer heap loads of kudos for was when he last transfer window stuck around to see whether we would sign more CMs or not. Clearly he read that situation, at least, very accurately.

Made some really good passes down that left side.

Several of which I wish Rose had done a better job with.
