Huddlestone to leave Spurs, and Coppell to stick in a bid are two completely different things. It wouldn't surprise me in the least if there were clubs after Thudd. We'd be fools to sell him IMO.

I can't see Huddlestone being first choice next year. he will play back up to Zokora and Jenas. Even then he will have to face challenge of Tainio for holding role.

I like Huddlestone, but I'm concern by his lack of mobility, which could cause issues for him in cementing a permanent berth in the starting eleven.

within 2 seasons he will be the linchpin of the team, he has a fantastic array of passing and is a good defender... His main problem is he is heavy footed which makes his turning slow, but he is young and will get better...

This is a thread that should be locked because you can pretty much guarantee that he isn't going anywhere

i dont think hudd will ever be THAT player he was made out to be for a while, because of his lack of aggression and mobility...

Every one slated Carrick the first season, and in his second aswell but after seeing our displays this season without him you can see he is missed and the Hudd will fill his role in midfeild soon

If he was 28 then we'd have a problem, but the geezer's only just 20!

He's still learning the premiership, he's still refining his own game, and he's not really had much of a chance to settle with the players around him yet! I have no doubt he will come good. Yes he has flaws, but I'm confident
he'll learn to work past them. He's shown a level of class beyond his years - albeit not consistently yet - give the lad time.

This summer, if we can instill a level of aggression into Thudd's game, and teach Lennon how to cross, we will be very dangerous indeed.

I think he still has loads to add to the team. He will be fine and he won't be leaving Spurs.

The only way he'd go to Reading is on loan and i can't see that.

wouldnt mind if he went on loan like Craig said, but only if jol doesnt see him getting many starts for us next season, a year with another team could see him get the experiance and game time he needs to improve!

It might just be that you gradually stop perceiving him as slow, as his quality shines through with his greater experience. Perhaps his build is giving you the wrong impression.

We shall see.

Dragon1 (I think) posted a while back that Jol thought the Hudd was at least another season away from a regular first-team spot. How reliable that was is open to question but I frankly doubt that we'd have seen anything like so much of him last season had it not been for the injuries to Tainio and Jenas, and Jol's reluctance to give Ghaly a try in his natural position. In fact, everyone on SC seemed pretty happy with the Hudd up until about New Year, when circumstances pretty much forced Jol into pairing him up with Zokora, a combination which did neither of them nor the team too many favours.

I have a feeling Huddlestone's lack of agility rather than his lack of pace will always be a concern in the Premiership; that said, we should be able to work around it.

As for him going anywhere, even on loan, it's made-up bollocks.

As his vision and, especially, his ball control and 1st touch get better, his pace will become less of a problem as he will be able to make time and space for himself. And while a player like Hudd, who doesnt get around the pitch much, does require players around him who can cover a lot of ground and even put the boot in when needed, in Jenas we have that sort of player, and if Bale is used as a left-mid, we'll have that sort of player on the left as well.

it might be, but if as the rumour of Jol thinking he has another season to wait untill he is ready, a loan deal might be a good solution, only thing that would stop is if jol wants him to stay with us to learn the way Jol wants him to play

Jol said a few months ago he wouldn't swap Huddlestone for anyone. Why would he sell our most talented midfielder? This story is bullshit. I read a similar story about the possibility of him going out on loan to Reading, which is more believable. However, I think that during pre season the Hudd will regain his starting spot. He was incredibly unlucky this season. HAd he not been injured prior to the Fulham game I'm sure Zokora would have been dropped when TT came back. As it happened the Hudd got injured and TT and Zokora played in a 4-0 win. After that the Hudd didn't really play much. I can understand why Jol didn't want to risk a young inexperienced player at the business end of the seaon. But, in pre season Jol will be muh more open minded. The Hudd will get the opportunity to show what he can do and none of our other CMs are in the same class.

I think we've gone past the loan stage, even to a decent outfit like Reading—a Championship side is totally out of the question. There will be plenty of games for him to play for us next season, and fingers crossed we'll be less plagued by injuries next season* so that we'll be able to field him in a midfield set-up that won't expose his weaknesses—as tommo suggested above.

*Tainio excepted, of course!
