Its all about wages IMO, its easy to say go splash £35 million on a player, which you will have to spend these days for a player like Aguero, Rossi and Llorente, thats the easy part. These types of players would be demanding say at LEAST £150,000 a week, you work that out over a 5 year contract and that makes it a total wage bill of £31.2 million. Then you have other top players at your club wanting a new contract to be on equal earning, its not long before the walls come crumbling down and I am not being dramatic.
Levy keeps the finances in check because he has too, he is a bussiness man everyone is saying look at Leeds why go so far back? Look at Man U, look at Liverpool look at West Ham all having to get new owners. We have spent money in the past but due to the likes of Chelsea and Man City in the last decade wages have spirilled to the point of stupidity, players come to England EXPECTING big salary and due to what players are already getting paid here.
Alot of football players are moving now for money more than anything look at Nasri, wanted by United probably the best club team in the world over the last 10 years, he picked City. if we want to get more spending power we need to get into the CL on a regular basis AND get our new stadium. Its as simple as that football is changing and we need to get used to it, hopefully the new rules regarding spending will help the situation but I doubt it.
So yes I am happy with our transfer policy, we need to get the stadium and get back into the CL on a regular basis.
