Title-chasing Spurs are confident — but the Hammers think his former team-mate Dimitri Payet's success with them will win the Belgian over.

He would be an excellent addition if we can snap him up before he increases his value in the Euros. If we secure CL footie next season and Spammers don't I'd say it would be pretty much a no brainer for Batshuayi to choose us over them, especially seeing as half of the Belgian national side are already living it up at the Lane.
As for Payet, he is a great player, but I have a feeling he wants to play in the CL too, so he could well be off unless Spammers win 10 of their last 12.

Think this depends on whether he's interested in playing at the higher levels or money. If Spammers are throwing £125k a week at Payet for half a season of excellent football their likely to throw similar amounts at Batshuayi. We all know Levy will never sanction that amount and even Eriksen who is established as one of the best midfielders in the league is only on £80k.

Personally i think if the guy goes for the money then hes not the right person for us anyway as wil break the tight bond we have in the team at the moment that makes the whole stonger than the individuals. If he comes to us and demonstrates he coming for footballinf reasons then really believe he will be the missing part of our jigsaw. Just imagine how far clear we would be this year if we were able to chnage just some of those many games we dominated but drew unto a win for the sake of a few extra goals this season.

A tough one for Levy and Poch as mustnt break the bank on salary and risk disharmony but desperately need extra goals in the team.

Any success Payet has had is because he's an excellent player - not because he's at West Ham. I'm surprised he's signed a contract extension to be honest as he's way better than the players around him.

I agree. God knows why Payet would sign a contract extension at that club. Either he's very loyal, a bit stupid, has no real ambition, or just likes being a big fish in a small pond. I'm going for a combination of the last three.

If we had Kompany here as well (along with CL football) I'd say yes, he'd come, but I don't think that lot's gonna be enough, Danners....
maybe if we could add Poirot and TinTin it would be done already!

Still, they do have Payet who used to play alongside him for Marseille for maybe 1 season.

The sign that Payet is standing next to in the photo is lacking any sort of punctuation! Should be a full stop (comma minimum) after Winning and an apostrophe in "its". Illiterate pikeys!

80k? He is apparently a outs to sign a deal for 50k so I would assume he's on around 35k

Can I suggest you read the same paper as me?

Does correcting grammar make you feel good?
Just had a quick search, and there's conflicting reports, half say 50k and the other half say 80k. I only corrected your grammar to make sense of what you'd typed.

Being the devil's advocate for now, do you not think that any Gooner (or Chelsea, or Man xxx, or xxxx) would say the same thing when any Spurs player signs a new contract? Just saying!
