Trippier's move to Spurs appears to be well advanced according to Sean Dyche. And apparently there's some interest in Jonjo Shelvey from Poch and Mitchell.

Do we really need another midfield player ? Shelvey wouldn't be a bad signing but I would have thought we should concentrate on signing a striker. Trippier doesn't look a bad player but alongside Walker Yedlin and Dier that will be four right backs in the squad.

Dier isn't RB. Walker has peaked and has injury problems. Yedlin isn't ready.

Dier has played at right back if I am not mistaken. I don't think Walker has peaked he has had injury problems but if he can overcome them he will be first choice right back. Yedlin is more than ready watched him play for the USA against Germany and I thought he had a very good game. As for Kane are you sure he will be with us next season ? Adebayor and Soldado are finished at the club we need another striker to support Harry next season if he is still with us, my choice would be either Benteke or Austin.

Wouldn't mind Trippier but really don't see why people rate Shelvey - not an improvement on what we have.

You are correct he has played at right back but only because walker was injured, naughton was s*** and yedlin was no where near ready. Trippier will be a great signing. He bombs up and down the wing just like walker only his final ball is better and he can actually defend.

I'd agree with others that right-back isn't really a priority area for us, but Trippier could be a solid signing. It reminds me of the time we had gaping holes all over the pitch but spent a decent wedge on Hutton to add to the 2 or 3 right backs we had. Sometimes you have to take a player becasue the time is right, even if you think other positions are in stronger need of reinforcement. Or maybe Walker/Yedlin are simply not cutting it.

Shelvey is an odd one. We could be in for some interesting moneyball-type signings this summer. And that's not meant as a criticism - I'm interested in letting Poch sign who he wants and seeing how it goes. ANd Mitchell appears to be the man behind finding value in a player that others don't quite see. But Shelvey isn't exactly an unknown quantity and I'm not sure what he would bring that is an upgrade on Eriksen and others

To me Trippier makes a lot of sense, Shelvey less so.

Dier has played at RB yes but it doesn't mean he is a RB. He played well for a 20yr old but was exposed by the quicker wingers. Not a true RB. Although most of us would prefer someone other than Soldado dont be shocked if he stays.cant see us getting any decent offers and we know Levy won't sell on the cheap. And this talk about Harry going is utter and complete nonsense. first because he's a Spurs fan, why would he go after JUST becoming the boss at his boyhood club? And if Levy did cash in and sold him to United he would be dragged into the street then drawn and quartered...anyway let's spend the 4million and finally get some quality back up for Walker.COYS

Trippier is a no brainier at 3.5million, we can't lose as his value is higher than his release clause. Shelley, on the other hand, is really uninspiring and would slightly depress me I f we buy him.

Dier played at RB because Naughton was suspended.

Naughton struggled at LB, but was 10 times the player walker was last season at RB.

Is Shelvey the bald guy? If so, that's the case of one bald deserves another.

He has alopecia, which is a little different to baldness, but he is the guy with no hair who used to be at Liverpool.

I won't argue with that walker was awful. Surely more reason to be in the market for a right back?

Some reports are suggesting Walker is struggling to come back from his injury. Dier has made it clear he sees himself as a centre back.

ITK reports are saying Yedlin doesn't look ready and may be loaned out for a while.

So if Fredericks isn't ready then Trippier makes sense.

Shelvey doesn'yt though and I really hope it isn't true.

Seems a bit of a Ben Davies signing - there to provide competition rather than an obvious upgrade.

Should we sign Trippier I think many of us will be pleasantly surprised, with JoJo Shelvey too.Certainly plenty of energy offered by these two.

Trippier makes complete sense given walker is injury prone and none of other younger players are deemed ready - trust poch et al on this. Why compromise on using dier at rb when that is not his best position.
Shelvey may seem uninspiring but again trust poch et Al... Whenever I have seen him play he seems skillfull enough, but most importantly for me he seems to have the necessary drive and energy - ie " character" and aggression which many of us agree has been lacking in the squad?
