Surely there could be a small fee arranged to get him in January?

He's played in 8 of their 11 league games so far. They might not be willing to sell if he's still needed.

No harm in us trying though. we could always offer them Winks on a 6 month loan to "sweeten" the deal.

He's amazing, judging by the experts on SC. So I say YES to Kessie.

Watched the first half of Milan and Roma at the weekend and Kessie was very good and comfortable in the role of dropping deep to receive and then driving forward with the ball. He's not a player who will play safe and Conte would use him effective I reckon.

What kind of midfielder is he? The central deep lying playmaker like Brozovic?

Box to box probably more attacking, pretty quick and very strong. An all rounder but certainly not just a DM.

So one of the Ndombele/Lo Celso slots probably.

Kessie is able to play both in the deep role and in the box-to-box role, therefore I think both Lo Celso and Ndombele will be able to play with him. With Ndombele he plays more forward and with lo Celso he drops more. More like we have 3 options and can sell Dele and Winks

He’ll be off to the African Nations in January so may well be a case of seeing him in the summer if true to save a quid or two for the January window.

We can't forget the HG situation though. I suppose it's possible that Conte could reinvigorate Winks and Dele to be assets to the squad but seems unlikely right now.

I wonder what salary Kessie is on and would get via a free transfer. I'm wary of Paratici negotiating 400k a week for Ramsey at Juve. On top of some other hefty salaries. You'd like to be sure kessie is the real deal, unlike ndombele for example, who hasn't given value anywhere near his pay.

I think high salaries on Bosman deals will become a lot more common from now on. Players are taking control of their own futures and have worked out that being cash cows for clubs doesn't benefit them as much as a hefty salary on a free transfer. IMO, we might as well grasp the nettle since Kessie is a top player. It might cause a few waves in the wages heirarchy but I think that will become an outdated concept too and players will realise that they probably need to do what Kessie has done and run their contracts down. There will still be a vibrant market for talented players from further down the food chain as well which is the life blood of lower leagues.
