Sam Allardyce wanted to sign DeAndre Yedlin on a permanent deal. Tottenham are expecting a bid for Ryan Mason from Hull City this week

I still cling to the hope that Yedlin has a future at Spurs. He was performing well for Sunderland towards the end of the season and I think his pace makes him a more natural understudy to Walker than Trippier. Wouldn't be surprised to see him leave though.

Hull and Sunderland, once again, proving integral to Spurs' business plan.

In fairness, Yedlin has had a good second half to his season at the Black Cats, and with Dier and Dembele having breakout seasons Mason (and Bentaleb) have fallen further down the pecking order.

The arrival of Wanyama, has compounded that fact.

There's no point to your post unless you tell us your reasoning. Why?

Sorry david i didn't realise I had to give a reason, but as you've kindly asked for one here it is.

Mason was injured early in the season and never really got going again. I feel there is more to come from him and like his attitude and work rate. Yes bentaleb was also injured and is a great player when on form, but I'm not sure he will settle for being a squad player in the way mason or Carroll would; I'm just not sure about his attitude and his relationship with poch. Carroll (IMO) is a great ball player and can make decent forward runs but remains physically too slight and is easily out muscled.

Thus of the three I'd like to keep mason.

Agreed mate, but I feel trippier is a better crosser than both walker and yedlin

...

It's not nice of me to say this, but frankly, I sometimes think that David, for all his intelligence, simply does not get (or want to get) some of the social aspects of conversations, such as the expressing and sharing of sentiment/emotion.

(And no, I am not perfect either, far from it).

Mason also showed more vision and commitment to the cause.

Depends on the offer but I wouldn't be in a rush to get rid of either of them because they both still have a lot of potential. Yedlin I think is more likely to make it as a winger than a full back because he doesn't look like he wants to get stuck in defensively. He's got pace and can cross so there's something to work with there. Mason had a bad season but in large part it was due to the emergence of Dier and Dembele. We forget that during 2014-15 he had a really good year as an round midfielder alongside Bentaleb. When he came in for Dembele for the last few games we didn't do as well but I think the whole team dropped off after the Chelsea game. If we're in the Champions League we need a bigger squad. Let's get the most out of them before we sell them.

with the possibility of Dier reverting to centre back due to verts injury i would keep hold of mason. Yedlin is a different kettle of fish. i would be more inclined to loan for a year again maybe to a better side than sunderland to see him develop then make a decision in a years time.

there are not many players to let go - most go for carroll who i saw earmarked for swansea - as for me we only need to bring in three or four players big vic and maybe a double dutch would leave us maybe thinking another centre back.. for me CL isn't that important i want to see us maintaining a challenge for the league and aim to win it in the next 2 to 3 years.

Sorry but I just can't see that as a possibility at all. Wimmer will replace Vertonghen, just as he did for a couple of months last season when Vertonghen picked up an injury. There's also Davies who can play LCB.

Dier is now, in my opinion, far too good at DM, to consider dropping him back just because one of our defenders has an injury.
