Seems LVG dream may not be dead after all if these sources are to believed. I'd personally still take him if United look elsewhere.

Benitez, Allegri, Klopp.
So, none of them know then. Van Gaal would be another stop gap, albeit a very experienced one. Some of the journalists were discussing how he threw them out of a hotel in Amsterdam once, bags and all. Plus the behaviour at Bayern, pulling his trousers down and insisting players don't have their lunch before he does. Am I that clever, or are you that stupid? he told journos at a press conference.
Might be an amusing disaster for whichever club picks him, unless the results outweigh the craziness.
Not in the early stages it isn't, for a new manager the wins and points on the board are way more important. Style develops over time. It's not just results that matter. It's how we play.
Otherwise AVB would still be with usIt's not just results that matter. It's how we play.
He'd be right for them if he was 10 - 15 years younger, but they need somone to rebuild the squad from the bottom (i.e. youth team) up and it's going to be a multi-year project. History suggests that the new United Manager is unlikely to be there to see them reach the Promised Land. After reading the 'Sports Illustrated' article maybe Man.U. should take him?....and good luck to them. They did well with SAF, (whom LVG sounds like being).
Interesting read but you could say the same for Mourinho who is still one of the best there is. I'd like him because someone needs to put DL in his place a bit, as he only seems to hire managers he can treat as puppets. With LVG I feel that if he doesnt make it, some people will finally start pointing the finger at Levy.Be careful what you wish for:

Even though we've played badly for much of the season, we've still got every chance of getting 6th place in the PL. An experienced manager like LvG will see that and realise we offer him more chance of success than United.
Except Pochettino has done it in the Prem.I want Van Gaal but I don't think its going to happen.
My money is on Pochettino (literally) but can't say its one that excites me. Just feels like Ramos all over again.
I think after the AVB calamity and the TS Tragedy, we are all pinning our hopes on the next manager to be our "knight in shining armour". For me, Pochettino has done wonders at Soton, but I'm afraid he lacks Pedigree. We need a more experienced campaigner, someone who can turn our fortunes against the bigger teams like, heaven knows that's our weakness.Except Pochettino has done it in the Prem.
I would take him in a heartbeat if it wasn't for a doubt about how he would handle the negativity that would follow a few bad results. I have seen Soton a fair bit, my son in law is a season ticket holder, and the job is simply an easier one.
Seriously talented manager tho.
