Tottenham had ‘agreed terms’ with Sevilla boss Julen Lopetegui, only for the deal to fall through, according to reports. Spurs have since turned their attention to former Roma boss Paulo Fonseca, who is expected to be unveiled as the north London club's new manager imminently.

So Fonseca is what, fourth or fifth choice?

More like 8th choice.

Nagglesman
Flick
Rogers
ETH
Poch
Conte
Lopetegui
Fosneca

and that’s not mentioning others like Raganick who we talked to as well.
I would have really liked to get Lopetegui. His teams are set up really well, playing attractive football. He did great in his short stint with Spain, and had a bad hand at Real Madrid right after Ronaldo was sold. To me he has all of Fonseca’s upside, with a lower risk downside.

I'm not sure how a notional ranking of the club's "choices" is relevant. What is relevant is how Fonseca ranks in Paratici's choices and that is 1st or 2nd, depending on whom you listen to.

It's a fair point. Surely when discussing the job with a potential candidate the candidate is trying to work out if they can get the job but also if the club's vision and what they provide is right for them.

But at the same time the club is trying to work out if the person they are interviewing is the best man for the job but also if the vision is right.

So if we have interviewed a number of candidates before deciding on the right man, we shouldn't be surprised. Isn't that how interview processes work?

It's embarrassing. The club had a chance if they'd gotten Flick, Nagglesman, Conte or Poch and let them shape the squad. Now they've appointed the first desperado who'd take the job because they were running out of time.

12th next season if we're lucky! Or Fonsece will be gone before the end. The only positive being that Levy gets put under more pressure to go.

Well it seems even that changes when someone new flutters their eyelashes at him

Latest News...Talks with Fonseca broken down , different reasons being given. Apparently we are now after Gattuso who has just resigned after 23 days. I’m changing my bloody name

Whom did you have in mind? From all I've read, Paratici either turned up and told Levy something to the effect of "I want to work with Fonseca" or "working with Conte would be good, but if we can't get him, I'd like to appoint Fonseca".

I haven't seen a single plausible suggestion that Paratici preferred anyone else. No names, other than the usual bits of random clickbait nonsense.

Was in response to the Reno Gattuso news. We have no idea if he has a list of choices. Lurching from Fonseca to Gattuso doesn't really scream out that this is a man with a plan though, does it?
