Spending won't be down to Foncesca. Yes, he might well work within financial constraints but they aren't of his choice. Whoever had come in, the reality - like it or not - is that finances are tight at the club at present.

I’m not thrilled either. But sometimes the right chemistry between club and manager is a lottery. So lets hope this our draw.

Champions League is gone with this guy in charge...not a chance. Levy isn't serious about us challenging for anything.

Couldn't be less interested in next season

Bit of a pointless article that. Doesn't even mention his football achievements just who he sold! Not the most exciting appointment if this goes ahead but if we can keep hold of Kane and Son then even a half decent manager should do better than last season.

I must say i am very concerned that the man (maybe) being bought in not to deal with transfers and spending is terrible with transfers and spending...:hungry:

I dunno... I'm really excited about the managerial appointment... He's Italian, so the defence will be shored up...he's also a proven winner with a long history of success in different leagues so he'll adapt... AND he favours attack-minded play. I am speaking of Ancelotti of course...

The ludicrous implication of this auto-think article is that a spending spree is a good thing in itself - that unless the club is lashing out, or perhaps I should say haemorrhaging, 8-figure sums on transfers without recouping any of it in sales, it is failing in its duty to the fans.

Sure, if there's a top player out there who is available, wants to join us and costs £30-50m, let's do the deal, as we have on multiple occasions over the past few years. But that's not what the article is saying. It's saying that Fonseca's practice of assembling squads with canny purchases and equally canny sales is a Bad Thing, because fans want to see profligacy for its own sake. Which is false: it's not a Bad Thing and not all fans demand the kind of signings where the main value is "banter" with their Gooner and Chelsea mates.

It's also irrelevant and off the point, because Fonseca, if he becomes our manager, will not be doing our player acquisitions. Paratici will be doing that. So it's a bullshit article in every way.

People seriously think we will get top 4, with no budget and this squad? Deluded. Its nothing to do with the manager, its simply a matter of being realistic.

We will spend very little money this summer, because we have very little money to spend, you cant be nearly £900m in debt long term or not and spend money, especially with no backer. The sooner people realise this the better, and honestly I cant blame Levy for this but COVID has hurt us much more than any other PL side.

With in Levy's say so, Paratici's title will not be DoF, if it is, he's a fool.

I think we will be the same as this season, there is no argument at all for us finishing top 4, NONE. Defeatist? NO, realistic yes.
I agree mate top four is not for us and yes it's being realistic but it was good while we had it unfortunately our club is going in a different direction.

Totally, I have said it time and time again, Levy is trying to make a super club from a club that wins nothing. Its not sustainable or even realistic. Right now we have City, who will invest, Chelsea who will invest, United who always invest, Liverpool who will have their best player back. Then we will be competing with Leicester, well run and ambitious and sandy WH. Sad times.

Well that is why we got laughed at by everyone over why we was considered for the ESL as the club wins fuck all.
But yes your right he wants us to rub shoulders with the biggest clubs but at the time don't have the medals to show like the others embarrassing.

See my post about "no money" here. It's not so, it's hopelessly simplistic.
