First 35 minutes shocking. After that we played pretty well. A non penalty and Lloris wanting to parry it to Sterling every time killed us. I think overall we deserved to lose because of the first half performance.

Kane was way off the pace and crying out for Son didn't seem to change matters

I was a bit disappointed by Lamela not squaring it to Eriksen before half time I'm sure we would have equalized.

Ben Davies was lucky to stay on the pitch but then again De Bruyne on Vertonghen was a red for me too, but I'm glad it stayed 11 a piece

Moura looked excellent in the game and ran at them without giving it a way a whole lot.

Davison was pretty poor in places with his decision making, positioning and mis-timing his offside trap. He's still young and I'm glad he's having time to improve.

Tripper was pretty poor with his delivery today.

Eriksen didn't stop trying and Vertonghen was an absolute beast, a shame he had to see the scoreline like that after a fine performance

Work to be done in the summer but not the end of the world to lose to the best team in the country. Let's not over react to the result, we are a fine team.

I'm not sure we would have scored had Lamela passed it to Eriksen, and it seemed like he was trying to make room to cross for Kane. I don't think Kane is actually helping our play at the moment, because he doesn't look fully fit.

Im glad we have 7 points on Chelsea.

As far as today, I think it shows we need a new CM this summer. Im not knocking who we have now, but Dier is too slow for some opponents, Dembele is getting older and can go missing and Wanyama just hasnt had enough games back from injury. Winks might made of difference but maybe not.

It would have been 10 points. Chelsea tried hard to lose the game, unfortunately Saints worked harder at it. :(

Not withstanding the lacklustre team performance, I have to say I thought the fans were particularly poor today.

At 0-0 we should have been at them as a stadium but it did not happen. I’m not going to fully blame the 11 on the pitch for that today.

I agree it would have been the right tactical choice under the circumstances. While Liverpool have had the most success out of anyone against City by pressing them relentlessly, if we weren't capable of it due to fatigue, Kane not being fully fit, or because we needed to conserve energy with the most important match of the season being a week away with a league match in between then we really ought to have set up on the counter.

It just feels like Poch can't bring himself to do it against Guardiola. He wasn't too proud to play on the counter during the group stage of the CL, or in the match against Liverpool at Wembley, but he's never so much as attempted it against Pep even when it has made sense to in context. Like he's got a blind spot due to the Barcelona-Espanyol dynamic or something.
No, it's that if you attack Guardiola teams enough then you can get through them. We actually played well for the middle part of the game, causing them to waste time and make the substitutions that they did. Alli was kicked a lot.
I haven't seen the game on TV as I was at the ground, but did we have legitimate claims for penalties?

Found out a work colleague was found dead last night and I almost got in a fight in the ground. What a day.

Next weekend is it.

We need 3rd as there is still a chance the dippers win the CL and the goons the Europa.
There are a maximum of 5 teams in it from one country, so even if those two were to win the both competitions and we were to finish 4th, the only way we would miss out is by Chelsea also finishing 3rd. Assuming Utd finish 2nd, Liverpool would also have to finish 5th. This disastrous scenario is still possible but highly unlikely and even more unlikely than Chelsea overhauling us for 4th.

Oh no that's awful - hope you're alright.

With another spurs fan? Or did a city one get in?

Feel abit shit tbh. He was a good lad. Don't know details though.

Nah some young lad. Shouting abuse all game and i was sure he called a city player a "wog". Blokes around him (not with him) assured me he diddnt. He was shouting all sorts all game and left on 70 minutes goofy little twat.

We bottled it again plain and simple ,liverpool took the game to city , we hid and were frightened to play and it showed, Kane was anonymous, verts was our best player yet again and Lucas showed, he must get a run on Tuesday.
