I think it might seriously be time for Harry to give Sandra a start upfront, if she can score that header Bent missed she certainly would have taken one of Defoe's chances today
This doesn't make you right, Pav has had a very poor season too and his excellent performance today doesn't make up for that all of a sudden.

The myth that Pav will consistently score goals is just that - a myth.

Defoe's time has come though, he's had a disastrous season.

I'd be very happy to see them both gone in the summer, neither are remotely good enough.
This is just a load of nonsense.

Nobody is saying that Pav is Drogba, Torres or David Villa, what people are saying is that he never gets a run of games under Harry when Defoe stinks the place out every week and gets to play, that Pav offers far more than Defoe when he isn't scoring, that how the fuck would you know if Pav would score loads of goals when he doesn't get the opportunity? Finally, that Pav has scored more bloody goals than Defoe and on that basis alone deserves to play.

Modric was great today. I'm just so sad we didn't buy that striker in the summer, we could have won the league this year.

When Pav has been given chances he's scored goals. He looked hungry and created and did everything you could ask of him when he came on. Should have had two assists and one us the game had Defoe been able to kick the ball into the net.

If Pav were shown even a quarter of the support from his manager that Defoe and Crouch receive he'd be in double figures this season and we'd be in a much better position I bet.

Pav is a better finisher than Defoe imo and offers at least some aerial threat with it. Defoe has always frustrated me, but I've completely lost patience with the guy now.

Finally, that Pav has scored more bloody goals than Defoe and on that basis alone deserves to play.

Pav's played (marginally) more minutes than Defoe this season, the run of games myth is yet another myth, just like the goalscoring myth.

Harry plays Defoe because he believes he will score goals. In the past he's been proved correct, but Defoe is having a stinker of a season this year. He still has a brilliant scoring record so that's why Harry has been sticking with him.

So no, none of it was actually nonsense. Did I say that Defoe should be getting to play? No, I simply said that the idea that Pav is some free-scoring goal-machine is total bollocks, and that's because it is.

When Pav has been given chances he's scored goals. He looked hungry and created and did everything you could ask of him when he came on. Should have had two assists and one us the game had Defoe been able to kick the ball into the net.

This is the nonsense. That is complete a utter bollocks. In the first 21 games of this season he made 18 appearances, 16 of them consecutively, and scored 5 goals. Admittedly he didn't play 90 minutes, but in 11 of them he played at least a full half and in 9 of them he played over 75 minutes.

He scored 5 goals.

It is also very important to point out that he scored 2 of those goals in games where we won comfortably (Blackburn and Wolves at home) and one in the 4-2 away defeat at Bolton. His only 'important' goals were our first goal away at Fulham and the excellent goal he scored at home against Chelsea.

He's also been injured for various periods, and Redknapp himself has said that when he sees he's not in the 11 he will often come up with a sudden injury on the Friday training session.

This is what does my head in. This wilful ignoring of any facts and the happy replacement of those facts with a wishy-washy 'yeah but Pav scores goals innit' attitude. Completely aside from the fact that he's one of the laziest players I've ever seen, totally ignoring the fact that he constantly gives the ball away instead of holding it up, the one thing his supporters always claim, that he 'scores goals' (or even more preposterously, that 'he will score goals if he got played more') isn't true.

For fuck's sake. Defoe is awful at the moment, and needs to be gotten rid of. I was screaming for Pav to start this game myself. And when he did come on he played really well, possibly his best performance this year. But can we please stop the utter shit that comes out whenever someone else like Crouch or Defoe don't score about how Pav would've definitely scored.

To top it all off, Harry has started him in 3 of the last 5 league games.

My problem with your posts is your ignoring of two facts:

1 - Pav scores consistently (he doesn't)

2 - Pav doesn't start many games (he does)

Other than that, I agree with you that I want to see him playing either alongside, or in place of, Defoe.

Neither of them are good enough, and both need to go in the summer.

Defoe has some serious PR. In identical circumstances, Pav would rightly never be given 90 minutes.

There will be a few games that we will reflect on at the end of the seaoson if we miss out - which is looking incresasingly likely now - this one will be the one which I think of first.

Absolutely gutted by that...gutted.

Liverpool could even be breathing down our necks by tomorrow evening.

Defoe's finishing is just not good enough, he just cant place a ball, it truly is shocking. That one four yards out only required placement in the left hand corner, hardly difficult with that amout of time.

VDV didn't look fit again, and surely Kranjcar should of come on for a tiring Bale.

At least Kranjcar can shoot and given the way West Ham were defending a shot outside the box could of won it.

Harry subs baffled me a bit today.

But yeah that was a big dent in our CL hopes for next season....I wouldn't be putting money on us at the moment.

Stoke will be doing the same at home in a few weeks time...dreading it.

At least Arsenal are losing 2-0....

and the worst thing is we dont get a chance to get it out of the system for 2 weeks....

Wonderful, another long break

Funny how despite all these breaks our "strikers" still couldn't hit a barn door. I wonder what they do in training?

I think I'd have done something constructive because my mum, Sandra, was strict with me
Defoe's interview with the daily mail.

That explains it. He must be Harry's adopted child.
