Some of the football is great but VDV is too far from the goal. Green looks troubled when we have shot. Modric's shooting has been much better today. I'd be tempted to get Pav on for Defoe after an hour or so if nothing's changed. Hopefully Bale will get a bit more involved.

We need to get VDV higher up the pitch. He needs to be closer to Defoe as at the moment its just him up top.

I dont mind if he drops deep now and then but at the moment he seems to be playing deeper than the midfield.
Or if Van der Vaart drops deeper, Modric needs to switch and move up next to Defoe.

I wouldn't really throw any blame to Defoe for there being no goals in the first half. Because for all of our possession, there has been very little created for Defoe to run onto or to hit.

Defoe's miss was woeful, I know it came back fast at him but for an international striker that has to go down as a terrible miss and I hope it does not cost us.

Great work from Lennon and we have generally looked nice and sharp all half, my only concern is you often get punished for not taking advantage of your dominance and West Ham do have players upfront and from midfield who can score (even off the bench)

We need to score early second half, if we do and they start to push for an equaliser we could hit them for 3-4 today, the problem is we are just as likely to stay stuck at 0-0 and get hit on the break ourselves and end up losing what is a very big game.

I'd probably take BAE off and bring on pav. Put bale to left back and push VDV out wider. As soon as Bale gets the ball at the moment they are doubling up on him, he would be harder to track coming from deeper. They only have one up front so if Bale does get caught up field on of the CB's can go out to cover.

Good play, by far the most possession, just can't get the ball in the back of the net.

Modric our best so far, Charlie's passing atrocious and proving to be a weak link. Lennon not at his best either.

Frustrating first half. Perhaps Pav will be the answer up front.

I think Charlies passing has looked bad because of the balls he's been attempting. all intricate through balls. At least he's looking for the runs of Lennon. maybe a bit predictable i suppose.
