Tottenham in for Witzel

Tottenham have reportedly thrown their hat into the mix to sign Borussia Dortmund midfielder Axel Witsel, with his contract ending in June. A player, that Jan Vertonghen branded “unbelievable” just last year.

Meh, he's much more than just a grafter. More Bentacur than Hargreaves.

He is way past his best though. Having said that, we are short in midfield, if Winks goes, which he probably will, we probably need a defensive midfielder and another who can at the very least fill that role, though ideally could also play in the front 3. Now bring in Witzel plus another option, and that for me is our midfield sorted. It would be a pragmatic solution and Conte would love Witzel, and is more than happy to work with older players.

We haven't made too many of these signings in recent years and we have seen some success in bringing in experienced players like David's, llorente and Naybet .....less so with Nelson and others admittedly.

I think this would probably be a good move, we need 2 CMs anyway

Grillitsch is out of contract too and I'd much sooner have him than Witsel. In all honesty though, we should be looking at much better than either of them if we make CL.
