According to InterLive, Spurs are reportedly leading the race to sign Inter Milan defender Stefan de Vrij, with Conte keen to link up with the star that he managed during his time in Italy.

I really like the fact that he can play on the left OR in the middle of a back 3. At the moment we're in trouble if Dier is out, whereas a signing like De Vrij could play ahead of Davies at LCB AND cover for Dier if he's injured.

We need to be in a position where we're not one defensive injury away from disaster at the back.
