There’s a feeling at Tottenham Hotspur that youngster Brooklyn Lyons-Foster might never make it into the first team now.

Journalist Alasdair Gold was speaking on the Last Word on Spurs Podcast with the international break coming to an end.

Agree does seem strange to include Alfie Whiteman over him, when we already have plenty of goalkeepers and Whiteman is out for a while injured.

Reading the article Lyons-Foster can play centre back and defensive midfield, so bit of cover there too.

Admittedly I’ve never heard of him, but Ally Gold seems to rate him and he knows his stuff.

He's 23 in December, needs to be playing regularly in the men's game.

Whiteman in 25 next month & Austin is 25 in January. None of them are ever going to be first team regulars here, so best if we can find them new clubs.

We need one of them to be third keeper for our club trained option in UEFA squad next season.
I'm of the opinion that 3rd and 4th choice GK should always be club trained, and rotated between being cover and out on loan.
Half a season each. Kept in the squad until it comes on a better younger alternative.

I agree with this as its a relatively healthy balance between getting first team football on loan and being with the senior squad on the bench.

However, there is a trend amongst the top level clubs that rather than give that 3rd choice keeper an opportunity if 1st and second are unavailable - they end up loaning in an older emergency goalkeeper on loan - this is something im 100% against.

Agree 3rd GK should be club trained, ideally 2nd too. Josh Keeley is 20 now & has a much higher ceiling than Austin or Whiteman IMO. But with Alfie out for a while it’s Austin who could be looking for a loan in Jan if Lloris is staying
