I think it shows up Bale's temperament/character a bit. Whether we like them or not, Suarez and Rooney have shown some balls, turned up and fronted things out. Bale in comparison has run away and hid.

The difference is Suarez and Roomey would've been aware when doing so that they weren't to be sold. I think Bale has known for a while that a move has been on the cards for him.

This probably isn't the time, but who of you have never thrown a strop when you thought you were being treated shabbily? Especially when all the people you love and trust for advice are telling you that's exactly what has happened. Later, when it's all died down, you might get a bit of perspective and start to see there are several sides to the argument, but at the time you only see it from your own side. It happens to me several times a day!!

Now if it's your dream that's at stake, your future being argued over you might be inclined to be partial and one-sided in your outlook.

But fair enough, people are pissed off (though not sure why now, as we've known his feelings on the situation the whole summer just about!), and there's nothing wrong with being pissed off, but just try and keep a bit of dignity, don't start re-writing the lads entire character. He was a good lad before, and he's a good lad now.

It's just sunk in that Spurs would have lost King, Modric, VDV and Bale in just one year :( ouch.
Ouch indeed. No point dwelling on the past though. We have as strong a squad now as I can ever remember, Bale or no Bale, as it's only going to get stronger with the money we're going to get.

From what AVB has said it sounds like he's expecting to spend the majority of the Bale money on new players.

Lamela, Chiriches, creative midfielder (Banega/Eriksen/Hernanes), left back and a second striker please (he says, knowing that it is deeply unrealistic).

I'm intrigued to see how he will cope with being a biggish (but new) fish in a very big pool. Since many of his new teammates have said that they think he's an unnecessary addition to the squad it will be interesting how he operates in a potentially hostile environment. It could quite easily end in disaster.

I've tweeted the Mirror to ask where Bale gets his hair gel from. he goes 90mins in the rain and it hasn't changed.

I take one trip on the tube and mine's completely ruined.

Friend of my described it as Bale being Batman and AVB being Commissioner Gordon in The Dark Knight where Bale is making himself the villain to make it easier for everyone and letting us move on without him.

Don't believe him but just found it funny and thought it was worth sharing

Barca v Real will be an excellent watch but can't say I agree with you on the CL. Just can't see RM winning it with their players egos. They'll never work or fight as a team, if Mourinho couldn't do it then I'm not sure anyone else can being honest. My money would be on Barca or Bayern, two sides that play as a team. You don't win anything with just a group of individuals.

Yep, agree with you there. Let's see how Ronaldo handles Bale joining :playful:

And we sit 1st in the table :joyful:

What a shitty way to leave a club that gave you everything. Where is the respect? Still, fat wad of cash and some more signings and we will be a force this season.

Need to get this Lamela deal sorted and announced asap to smooth it over!

What is the normal protocol?

I think it's just common courtesy to be honest. Sometimes a player can be carrying a small injury that may need to be managed. I was always under the impression the England Manager spoke to each club Manager/Coach before selecting their players

Sad that I'll probably never sing his name again but the chants were always a bit shit so I'm not that sad.

I think no matter how hopeful we might have been, the majority would have been sad but have accepted a move to Madrid with the team that AVB/Baldini are building. And we would have wished him well. He make himself a "villain" because he's just not the "good guy" we all thought.

Rather than focus on him, it makes me appreciate somebody like Dawson a whole lot more.

Avb annoyed about Townsend call up because of caulker, Livermore and hudd being called up once each last season then dropped. He says its no problem if he is in his long term plans, but not fair if just a one off.

Edit: was on ssn.
