Not sure whether this is actually crypto, but crypto is indeed a fucking scam, and token systems like this are usually predatory and exploitative.

Like MTX currencies in games, they're deliberately designed to confuse consumers about how much they're actually spending.

Research shows that even one level of conversion (eg into an in-game currency or token) is enough to make your average consumer think they're not really spending real money in the quantities they actually are.

It also serves to disguise the true value of the things you're using the currency or tokens for.

This is the reason games often ask you to buy a fictitious in game currency before allowing you to buy cosmetics etc. They could easily let you just buy the cosmetic with real money, but the conversion dupes people into spending more without realising it.

These token systems don't actually offer any additional consumer value or benefit. They exist to interpose themselves between the consumer's money and the item in question, to the massive detriment of the consumer.

I was doing a price comparison for something the other day and this site came up cheapest, the most cursory of glances told me it was a fucking scam. The reviews on trust pilot are pretty awful too obviously.

The club shouldn’t be involved with this kind of bullshit.

When you see partnerships like this - its hard to believe when Spurs say "image" matters when it comes to things like sponsorships - for shirts or stadium in the future.

They are not looking for the right "fit" - they are looking for the most money.

Plenty of big name clubs connected to this Socios thing , not sure its going to worry most fans. Whatever this free token thing is it will go into deleted.

Many people will indeed ignore it. But there will also be many who are duped into spending their money needlessly. These token systems exist because they are proven to work.

Yes I expect people will spend money on Socios but many people are stupid enough to go into the Spurs Shop and spend £80 on a shirt made from 100% polyester, how stupid is that , talk about mugs, love to know how much the production price is on those shirts.
I see Harlequins are also involved in Socios, quite an extensive explanation as well on their site .

What I also find laughable is that THST are disappointed that they were not consulted on sponsorship deals :)
