Just on paper, as I don’t know enough about the day to day running of Liberty Media, if this were to be a majority buyout it would have been nice to have younger owners next time round. John C. Malone, the founder, chairman and largest shareholder of Liberty, is 82.

Someone on COYS mentioned the other day that the Atalanta Braves who they own, they ended up splitting the club from the real estate (presumably this means rest of its assets like Stadium etc.)

If they did that to us it would be a doomsday scenario. The club wouldn’t directly own our own stadium anymore (possibly training ground too etc) and this could kill the club long term as the sustainability comes from the fact our real estate/assets generate incredible value in terms of net worth and revenues for the club.

Honestly I’m absolutely petrified of Liberty taking over after reading that post about what they did with the Braves. Happy for someone to clarify further if I’ve misunderstood as I don’t have great knowledge on this subject. It may well be me misunderstanding and panicking.

Also Dragon mentioned they would raise loads of debt to buy us which is surely horrific news? Sounds like they’d be like the Glazers in that case?

Honestly from those 2 things they don’t sound like good owners for us to get and actually worse than ENIC. It’s worrying me quite a bit.

I just hope those with more knowledge of them can provide some comfort at some point which would alleviate my fears. Hopefully my panicking is silly and they’re actually good prospective owners.

Regarding the friendly in Singapore possibly not being as random as it seems.

Post in thread 'Pre-Season 2023/24'

I was briefly excited when Forrest Li, the owner of Lion City Sailors FC and Shopee, actually was invited during a match when there were much talk of takeover mid of last season. But I don't think any links between the club and him will be on the ownership level or so I presumed. Because Sea Limited, the parent company overseeing Shopee, and Garena, just recently tide over their losses and reported positive growth for the first time. And before that, Shopee was swiftly shut from South American markets as well.

But I wouldn't be surprised to see Sea doing business with us in the near future.

Dragon on coys

My understanding is currently is joe and liberty are on the same page re deal structure

what they are far apart on is the price for the percent age is the club that they are talking over
but the interest is real , as well as the F1 thing they own live nation the biggest concert operator in the states if sold the stadium will be used way way more , the deal makes sense on many levels

re Daniel blocking / stopping deals I can tell you in one instance a buyer found Daniel to be rude and arrogant , joe phoned the buyer and flew them out to The Bahamas to negotiate , Daniel has zero ability to stop a deal if joe likes it
We already broke the licensing limit by having an extra Beyoncé concert, so I’m not sure how much more the stadium could be used. Unless there’s an NFL franchise, maybe that wouldn’t come under the same licensing rules?

Edit: already been mentioned, apologies.

Company like Liberty you would imagine has a lot more experience in dealing with planning issues, council's etc so they should be very well placed to negotiate an increase in that limit if required.

Sounds like aston villa, split the real estate holdings from the club, although I think they did it to avoid ffp.

I don't like it, but there must be some upside to it.

Prof said (The Gs are two ITKs)

I can’t tell whether the lack of interest from Spurs fans in the Liberty Media negotiations is because they don’t believe it’s a real possibility or because they don’t care.
Two of the Gs believe it’s got legs - far from a done deal, but (as dragon1 said) the outlines of how it would happen are in place. They believe it’s all about whether Liberty are willing to close the valuation gap for the 50%+ of the business that Liberty want.

and D1 in response (opinion, mixed with info)

The lack of interest is because our fan base want a Roman or mansour to ride in on a white horse and liberty are really another Enic but with two differences

1 - they will spend there own money on players , whilst Enic have spent with the exception of making the 150 million line of credit available recently which has barely been used Enic have only ever spent generated revenue on player investment ,liberty will be way more aggressive in the market place

2 - liberty will raise large amounts of debt for the buy out like the glazers did for United , Enic bought us for 40 million and apart from the stadium loan for the majority of their tenure we have been run debt free

what stuns me is that our fan base do not realize that Enic have accumulated enough land to build the largest housing redevelopment since the dock lands , we are 15 mins from islington and under 30 mins to the city , the 3 billion they are asking for the football club is chump change compared to the real estate potential worth

Ive seen a few people now suggesting that Liberty wouldn’t actually be a good outcome for us,
I must say what you post here is not to encouraging. I have two friends who are liverpool fans that where less then enthusiastic about the idea of Liberty buying them for similar reasons. I didn’t really take much notice at the time. Hopefully as you say someone with greater knowledge of their inner workings can put our minds at ease.

So people think that we should be excited at the prospect of having owners like the Glazers? And about having the Club divided from the stadium & infrastructure, just to get Enic out and possibly these "Glazers" owners will spend a bit more on players? It all sounds very dangerous and short term imo.

We are talking to Liberty media but from what I can gather there are numerous different options being talked through, and Liberty aren't the only ones we are talking to(the middle east thing hasn't completely gone away). I must caveat this with the financial stuff is not really in my guy's loop tbh, and everything he's passing on re this is already 2nd/3rd hand at best.

As I said in my original post on this it's all a bit confusing right now and it may all come to nothing but it's definitely worth keeping an eye on.;)

I'd say the lack of interest from Spurs fans is that we've heard lots of similar stories before which have come to nowt and I suspect most have adopted a 'believe it when I see it' attitude.

Can you imagine this place if ENIC finally sells and things end up worse than they were?

Precisely. There’s also only been itk rumours about it so far. I’ve not seen any of the papers or news sites mention it yet. Nor our usual journos.

We all only really found out about it yesterday on here didn’t we.

But like you I’m in wait and see mode. These things seem to bubble up now and then before disappearing without a trace.

I also have no real idea if this is a good or bad thing for the club, the stuff @Nick-TopSpursMan posted about the Atlanta braves is relatively concerning.
