We needed to give ourselves the best chance of making CL, our future depends on it much more than the EL at this juncture i.e. having AVB, all the publicity over Bale's form and what he's done to lift the profile of your club even higher around the world, new training ground etc, new stadium coming. All of these things have converged at a perfect moment for us to qualify for CL and bring in a couple of stonking players to properly bring us into the big time. And, of course, keep bale.
