Spurs look to bounce back against League One Addicks

Tottenham will aim to get back to winning ways as they host managerless Charlton in the FA Cup third round on Sunday.

Spurs saw a run of three straight victories come to an end on Wednesday as they went down to a 2-1 defeat at Everton.

But they host a Charlton side still reeling from the sacking of manager Phil Parkinson, with Keith Peacock having been placed in temporary charge.

Parkinson was axed after Monday's 4-2 home defeat by Swindon, which left the Addicks without a win in five league games, a run that has seen them slide from second to fifth in League One - now nine points behind league leaders Brighton.

Team news
Tottenham are still without defender Younes Kaboul as he serves the last game of a three-match ban for being sent off in the 2-1 win over Newcastle.

England striker Jermain Defoe is available again, though, after serving his own three-match ban.

Alan Hutton (foot) and William Gallas (hamstring) came through the midweek defeat but manager Harry Redknapp may make changes to rotate his squad and rest the defensive duo.

Redknapp is hoping to finalise a loan deal for former England captain David Beckham this weekend but he would not be available in time.

Beckham could be in attendance at White Hart Lane on Sunday and make his Spurs debut in next week's home game against his former club Manchester United.

Carlo Cudicini (shoulder), Tom Huddlestone (ankle), Ledley King (groin), Jamie O'Hara (back) and Jonathan Woodgate (groin) all remain sidelined.

Charlton are without striker Paul Benson as he continues a three-match ban for his red card in the 3-3 draw at Colchester on New Year's Day.

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp will rest several of his regulars for the FA cup tie against Charlton.

Vedran Corluka, Sebastien Bassong, Niko Kranjcar, Sandro and Wilson Palacios are likely to play while Jermain Defoe could start after suspension.
Charlton striker Paul Benson will miss the trip as he starts a three-match ban after losing his appeal.

But defender Matt Fry is available after he extended his loan from West Ham for another month.

Hopefully not another completely second string team with little balance and understanding as per the League Cup against the Ar5ena1.

i hope for a number of changes - its the reason we have such a big squad!!

Pletikosa/Cudicini
Corluka
BAE
Bassong
Dawson
......
Sandro
Jenas
Kranjcar
Defoe
Crouch

No idea who id play at RM - though Lennon shouldnt imo. That side is easily good enough to beat a league 1 side at home.

I don't like wholesale changes, other than resting players I don't think it achieves much.

Bale, VDV and BAE could probably use a break which can give Sandro, Krancjar and a defender a run out but I'd keep the rest similar to our normal starting XI

That is the exact reason i would make so many changes. The players have played loads really and towards the end of the Fulham game and the whole Everton game we looked tired - they need a rest so lets use the great squad we have!

Maybe we could put Khumalo @ CB and move Bassong to LB where he has played many times before and bring GDS at RM! That way would give all of the players who have played recently a break! Not bad considering we would be bringing in 8 current international players (Pletikosa, Corluka, Khumalo, Bassong, GDS, Sandro, Kranjcar Defoe, Crouch) plus Jenas whilst keeping Dawson as well!

I just want to be entertained and in the hat for the 4th round for our inevitable away draw to Man Utd.

Would be nice to see some fringe players given time to impress, and Luka/Bale/VDV wrapped up in cotton wool 'til next week.

A bit worried that someone on another thread is claiming that Livermore has been promised a start. Nothing agaisnt the lad, but I have fears that the Palacios-Sandro-Livermore midfield could be resurrected!

Im hoping bongali gets a game with bassong tbh. They hopefully won't offer too much going forward but he should be able to deal with whatever they bring. Pav and Defoe will start I imagine, townsend may well get a game with sandro

go along with PT, dont want too many changes which would leave us unbalanced & a team that doesnt know each other
