To be fair to Townsend (and I'm not a great fan) he makes far more sense played as a natural LW.

Forget about not the fashion. Townsend simply isn't a subtle enough player / doesn't have the vision to play that role, and is better as an out and out winger. No need to make every thread into the same debate.
