Redknapp and Hodgson battle for chance to meet Pompey

Tottenham and Fulham meet in an FA Cup quarter-final replay at White Hart Lane on Wednesday night when it could be argued that the contrasting value of the competition will be on display.

Roy Hodgson has made no secret of the fact that he believes a first success in club football's oldest knockout competition would prove a huge step forward in his regime with Fulham, which has already been rightly praised.
But contrastingly, Spurs could perhaps be forgiven for having eyes on their pursuit of a top-four place in the Premier League and a resulting spot in next season's UEFA Champions League.
Harry Redknapp's men face a gruelling fixture list in April, which involves back-to-back matches against Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United, and so it will be interesting to see if the Tottenham boss rotates his squad in the cup.
Fulham, of course, remain in the Europa League after their heroics against Juventus, but the FA Cup undoubtedly still holds more prestige, despite a dwindle in its reputation, and will be a priority.
The neutral will hope for an improvement on the initial 0-0 draw at Craven Cottage, a repeat of the Premier League meeting on Boxing Day, and the fact that a semi-final opponent for Portsmouth must be found on the night will add to the entertainment.

Team news

Tottenham striker Roman Pavlyuchenko is doubtful after suffering a hamstring injury at Stoke on Saturday.
Redknapp is hoping David Rose (knee) and David Bentley (virus) will be passed fit after training on Tuesday, while the return of Tom Huddlestone from an ankle problem has not been ruled out.
Younes Kaboul is cup-tied, but Wilson Palacios returns to the midfield after being rested for the win at Stoke because he is one booking away from a two-match ban.
Defender Jonathan Woodgate (groin) and goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini (wrist/pelvis) are long-term absentees.
Hodgson will make a late check on Brede Hangeland's chest injury after the centre-back missed the defeat to Manchester City at the weekend.
But Hodgson rested Bobby Zamora and Zoltan Gera for much of the second half to keep them fresh for the Spurs clash.
Andrew Johnson and John Pantsil remain in the treatment room, while David Elm has been ill.

Tottenham recall Wilson Palacios after the central midfielder was rested for Saturday's victory at Stoke.

Jermain Defoe is out with hamstring trouble and Younes Kaboul is cup-tied but Spurs hope David Bentley and Danny Rose will be passed fit after training.
Fulham are hopeful Brede Hangeland will be fit after suffering a chest injury.
Hangeland missed the defeat to Manchester City but Roy Hodgson will call upon Bobby Zamora and Zoltan Gera after substituting the pair on Sunday.

MATCH FACTS
The tie in context
• This is the only quarter-final tie that required a replay, in a competition that now has five Premier League survivors.
• Tottenham is the most successful club still alive in the FA Cup, having won the competition eight times.
• Fulham are the only remaining club who have never won the oldest cup competition in world football.
Semi-final draw
• The winners will be facing Portsmouth, the lowest ranked club left in the competition, in the second semi-final at Wembley Stadium on Sunday, 11 April (Kick off: 1600 BST)

Head To Head

• Between the two goalless games, Spurs prevailed in the league fixture at White Hart Lane.
Tottenham 2-0 Fulham (Prem Lge, 26 Jan)

We are going to see how bad Harry wants the cup compared to 4th with the lineup he puts out today.

We don't really have enough fit players to be resting anyone. I'd say his decision to bench Palacios against Stoke indicates Harry realises how good an opportunity this is for us.

I think he wants this. Harry is a 'big occasion' manager. He will want the glamour of a Wembly final again. He loves it.

I'm pretty nervous about this one, it really is a great chance to get to the final this year.

He has played our best team in the games against Leeds, Bolton (both games) and Fulham (first game), so no doubt he really wants it.

I can't wait until tonight. COYS! Another memorable Cup night at the Lane please.

Spurs are on their way to Wembley (twice)! Tottenhams gonna do it again

so nervous tonight, in fact I've just spent £15 to make sure we win!!

£7.50 on a draw and £7.50 on a Fulham win :( it'll soften any blow! (although ideally we draw then win in Extra time!! pockets me £30)

This almost makes me want to lose just so we won't have to be reminded of such a shameful day where two so shit players scored against us .... but only almost.

It won't be easy but I reckon we'll go two up and as usual concede with about 20 mins to go, ensuring squeaky bum time all round. But we will prevail. COYS!

I'm not being complacent blah blah blah but you have to be pleased that (according to the above) their last away win in all competitions was at Accrington Stanley

(who are they ? Exactly)

2-1 to foolham. D murphy x2. 1st will be a pen conceeded by bassong. 2nd will be knocked in on the rebound after a decent save from gnomes as Foolham break becasue we're chasing the equaliser. Our goal comes in the final minutes leaving no time to get a draw.

The video shows just how important Jenas was in getting us to the Final, something the Jenas haters on here seem to have wiped from their collective memory.

Really worried about tonight with all of our injuries, but COYS

I am/have been a Jenas supporter. But I think we move sideways with him. I think it is time to break ties with him and move on and let some other team worry about his athletesism and potential.
