Fulham gave us a passing lesson in the first half, their movement was excellent and Modric couldn't get near them.

I remember Bale's first run from LB and knew this would come up :)

It's all about getting the ball to him in space and we were crap in the first half at doing that. Always said Pal + Hudd in the middle and Modric in the free role so that he can make space for Bale and Lennon. Anyway don't want to get started on this again until the team for Porstmouth thread later today

Right, so you'd have Palacios and Hudd midfield... good. Then Bale on the left? where would Modric play?

The fact is, Bale didn't really get a sniff, he was doubled up on for the whole first half. As soon as Modric was on the left and Bale overlapping there was so much more space and he got a chance to really run at Kelley, forcig a yellow and a free kick from which we scored.

Not only that, but the introduction of Hudd instead of Modric in the middle completely shut down Fulham.

I was so annoyed at Half Time, we couldn't string a pass together we wasn't get the ball to Bale enough we was poor.

Harry took some big chances and fair play to him he got it spot on, he then took another massive gamble at 1-1 with bringing on Pav and it paid off, people have questioned Harry before but now i believe people need to start to realise he does know what he is doing and everything he has done for the club.

a year ago we was still hoping to keep winning to avoid going down. now we are 4th very much so in the hunt for CL football albeit with Games against all the big boys, BUT we are in our first Semi Final of the FA Cup for years! (2001?) and its amazing we might even be in an FA Cup final!!!

the second half performance was a joy and everyone played there part, no passengers at all.

That is the exact point I made about Bale and Modric when people were first saying Bale should be a LW and Modric a CM. In the second half Bale got so much more room due to Modric's sublime movement where as in the first half he effectively marked out of the game for large portions due to Fulham doubling up on him. Modric was unable to ocntrol the game against a pressing medfield and the changes Harry made allowed Huddlestone to come into midfield and dictate play, simultaneously allowing Modric and Bale to play to their strengths

must admit i did get carried away last night with my anti-Fulham rant - i was on lager and whisky and extremely high on spurs :)

but thanks for the kind words, claps smileys and positive rep i received so i obviously chimed in with a few other views

i don't really mind Fulham that much - though i do think they are usually a dull team to watch - at least they're not a dirty team on the whole tho Zamora was out of orderr and should have been red carded

it was the ITV bigging it up of Fulham that got me -

well now we've played the 'conquerors of Juve' four times this season, not lost a game and beaten them 5-1 on aggregate, maybe they'll start bigging us up a bit now :)

Not quite correct, in the second half Bale got so much more room, and so did Modric for that matter, due to the fact that we had a right wing and its as simple as that.
The changes Harry made gave us a right wing in Bentley who unlike Niko didn't spend all his time trying to play in the middle, Huddlestone then shored up the middle but that meant Modric was spare and had to be moved out to left wing leaving Bale spare and Harry considered him a better option at left back than BAE; all this changed the whole balance of the team and stretched Fulham wide open preventing them outnumbering our left wing.
Nobody around me was calling for Bale to be moved back to left back as the answer to our problem but everyone could see the need for Bentley on the right instead of Kranjcar.
I have never argued Bale sould be played at LW instead of LB or the other way round but last night did not confirm anything other than you don't play Niko wide right when you have Bentley available.
