Just a shame the draw wasn't kinder in the sense that it could be city, utd & chelsea all through to the semi's.

Us v wham should be a cracking cup tie.

through tbe middle he looked more menacing.
He is naturally a number 10, when Eriksen came of he seemed to take on that role and started to flourish. His passing has improved and he has started to take on defenders and win. Although he is still some way off his best I thought he was starting, as you say, to look quite menacing indeed and in my mind was our best player.

Extra time was definitely not welcome, especially against a possession team such as Everton in which we are going to have work very hard to gain the upper hand.

Team selection will have to be really thought through, someone like Paulinho for instance looked knackered.

And where was Adebeyor? Not even on the bench... Bentaleb ahead of him. Taken to Moldova and not played. Defo being told to do one... And making it clear to levy too. And fair play to Kane who needs him if he is just wasting space!

Harry Kane is ready to be a viable member of the matchday squad.
He took his goal really really well and I would love to see him start in games over Defoe as he even has the ability to link play up, has movement and as tonight has shown, score and create goals for himself.

Only El hamady and his penalty incidents seperate us from Hull in 2 games. 68% ball possession with 23 shots on goal and only 3 on target (Why are different sites so different in the stats - Soccerway saying only 12 shots on goal with 1 on target ?!) . Wow. Skin of teeth stuff. Poor Brucey.

15 months into the job and he's had Bale and penalties masking over his inability to instill tactics and any organisation at set pieces, both attacking and defending. He is a fraud.

I would not go as far as to say he is a fraud, But there are major doubts in my mind that he is not up for the task. There are far too many question marks and not enough answers. If your wingbacks are not upto the task and can not give you the wide play, Then why would you persevere (especially playing naughton and sig on the same flank) with them. Put a out and out winger on the left and likewise on the right, Especially as we do have them! We can not continue playing like this.

Too many people are quick to defend avb on here and only see the win and not look at the game as a whole, There are major problems ahead if avb does not have a clear understanding of what is needed to win games at home against teams like West Ham and even Hull (yes I know we won against them twice, But it was more fortune than anything else). People talk about needing creativity to open up teams who park the bus, I say we need space and tempo! Ffs we have Holtby, Eriksen and Sig as well as Lamela, Chadli, I count 5 players that can find a player if they have space.

Take those 6 pens away and where are we in the table? Take Bales solo mission away last season and where would we have finished? As far as I can see, Avb is a one system manager who refuses to try any other way and that will be his downfall if he continues like this.

Gonna hold up my hands and say I never thought he'd make it. Now he's a great option off the bench, maybe even a decent option as a starter on the left - good on him!

I think we can't safely say that Lennon and Holby will definitely be starting on Sunday.

Kane is ready for this level I'd say. Really needs regular footballer for this season though, imo. He'd be able to really come back into the squad and play a role next season then. Just worried he won't get enough games if he stays here twiddling his thumbs for all but a half dozen appearances.

Feels good to have players coming through our youth system, like Townsend and Kane, who have better all-round games than the likes of PL stalwarts/England Internationals Lennon and Defoe. Keep it up lads!

"Having a dig" - ffs I am just analyzing what i saw. Is it now totally forbidden to have a negative opinion on a few things?? I was happy for a few others and in my opinion it wasn't Paulinhos best game. He gave it away pretty often and his shooting is bad. Yes - he might be a bit tired but I can still judge him. I like Paulie and I hope he is ready for Sunday... jesus

I 'disagreed' with your post because it was very OTT in my opinion. I didnt think we played to badly tonight in all honesty! The football was much improved from Sunday (which was dire). Considering how many games that players like Paulinho, Verts and Walker have been playing recently, I thought we did well to come back into it and should've really won it in extra time. We've lost 2 games in 26 and are into the last 8 of a cup competition that we have a realistic chance of winning- I very rarely give out 'neg' ratings and will happily remove it if it bothers you that much but your post just seemed excessively negative.
