I dont think Lennon would have made a difference today. They sat so deep he wouldnt have been able to get by them. Kranky and Modders played well. it wasnt pac3e we lacked it was finishing. Even then there keeper had a great game. I also thought bale had a very good game.

As I said, but you're probably ignoring me, we created better chances with Keane on the pitch that Crouch(that's not a go at Crouch btw). How does that make Harry's decison "very very poor".

His decision was very poor because it was obvious that Hull would pack their defence out and he played 2 holding midfield players with a forward who drops right off and left us without enough presence up front. In addition it is so hard to play through tightly packed defences and sometimes that best way is to get into decent wide areas and be able to throw it in there, however it's pointless doing that when you have no presence and no midfield runner.

We had 2 clever players in Modric and Kranjcar we needed presence to support them and Defoe and an ability to keep the ball in the danger area, this scenrio has been witnessed before.

Cheers Werty is this a new year rule?
No, it's been around for a while I think. It's after a certain date, can't remember when, that five bookings is no longer enough for a suspension. Thankfully that date has passed.

A frustrating game for all of us to be sure,... the ref didn't help matters either. Might have been nice to see Bale take a couple of the corners from the right side for a few in-swingers. Bottom line - Hull parked the bus and Spurs couldn't move it out of the way.

I don't think it's down to one or two players who participated in today's game, but it's scary to see these kind of results with Lennon out. He's the only "what if" to consider today IMO. Unlike discussing Jenas (red herring), Lennon having been healthy and starting today probably would've made a difference,... clearly Jenas' participation was negligible...

COYS!!!

Surely if we're at home and we play Keane then we should definitely play Jenas?

It doesn't make any sense not to.

....

(Hudd) holds the ball well with palacios, and creates a nice calm defensive balance but as a creative outlet or a goal threat, he stinks big time

I think this is very unfair and not very true. Against the bus-parking teams you need a lot of movement and quick passing in the final third of the pitch - without that, the midfield players don't have anyone to aim at no matter how creative they are. Of course the very good midfielders (like Kaka, for example) would then create chances themselves and indeed provide goal threat themselves - but we had Modric and Kranjcar to do that today. Huddlestone main role was to create from central midfield, but without real width (no proper wingers) and without required quickness of movement and passing up front he may not have had the effective play from the forwards he was supposed to create for.

I would have agreed with what your saying before the match and I wanted Crouch to start too, but we still had three clear cut chances to score with Keane on the pitch. When we had Crouch on we created only one clear cut chance. While I thought before the match that it was the wrong selection, we had better chances with Harry's intial choice, so I don't think the decison can be classified as very poor.

I wanted keane to start the game but I'm now feeling very stupid as he has completely list it. He is so out of form I think even he is feeling embarrassed. Those days when he scored goals like the one against Chelsea are well and truley over. His movement is poor his touch is poor his finishing is poor hiscwirkrate is poor. I just wish we sell him befoe people forget how good he really was for us

Jenas played,... not a game changing player. Lennon is a game changing player.

Agreed, no Lennon meant no meaningful wing play. Corluka and Bale overlapping do not have the same effect as Lennon charging at fullbacks,... whether or whether not Jenas plays... Lennon is the game changing player.

So we've lost to two 'lower' teams who came to snuff out our attacking options . Hull are coming and their manager is very open about watching the vids of those 2 defeats and saying he's going to play like them .

So ,what was our ingenious gameplan to counteract the obvious kind of game we were about to play ? Was there a smart bit of invention ? a sneaky curve ball playing an unexpected player/formation ??

Not a bit of it . Sorry , but Harry 'I don't need any players in the Jan window' Redknapp did none of those things . Creativity, freshness and surprises , these are not really 'Arry's stock in trade . So the buck stops with him on this poor result .You get 'stuck' thinking when you age (I should know !)

I thought JJ was lively when he came on and Hudd was poor throughout..he's another bafflingly nailed on Harry starter . I agree with posters unsure that Aaron would have changed it overmuch..Brown would have sorted that too after seeing the Wolves/Stoke vids .

be interested to see if hull can do the same next week to man united. i bet they get beaten by 3 goals or more trying the same tactic.

after 30 mins im quite suprised harry didnt notice that the same thing was happening all over again, he should have changed things from then on and really went for it. our back 5 is good enough to cope with anything hull have got, i wouldve switched it up like this

----Modric/Jenas---Palacios--Kranjcar

--------------Keane/modric
------------Defoe---Crouch

I don't usually post (yes, I'm a lurking reader) but just wanted to add to the positives...over 10 hours since we last conceeded. Just in case that had gone missing in the frustrated rants. Let's take it all out on the next team that crosses our path...oh look, it's a severely wounded Liverpool...nice
